Okaay I understand your argument now to be that he possessed the ability to read and write, but did not necessarily exercise it. (Wasn't so clear before your last submission)

I can find some headroom for that position because the evidence concerning abstract ability is extremely vague to be fair (even if fundamentally I don't agree with it). But I get you properly now, and I think the important crux for me is that he never practised the literary abilities in relation to previous scriptures or in any way from which the Qur’an could reasonably be attributed to him.

Any other reservations I may have I think is irrelevant.

But Allah has used the term (ummiy) to refer to unlettered people who are not from Makkah but are rather Jews.

And then the prophet (PBUH) himself has used it in that same exact context of illiteracy

To be open minded I spent the last hour researching the sources you mentioned because this is a topic I am extremely extremely interested in (I do not claim to be an expert in the books but I surmised the following);

The books you listed do not present one settled position.

Maʿānī alAkhbār contains the report through Jaʿfar ibn Muḥammad al-Ṣūfī claiming that the Prophet ﷺ read and wrote in seventy-two or seventy-three languages and was called ummī because he was Meccan. (An event as significant as this one would imagine would receive greater Corroboration in literature but there isn't)

But Bihār alAnwār 16:132–133 merely reproduces that report. On those same pages it preserves contrary reports saying that he read but did not write, and that Allah favoured him by making him ummī and unable to write. Its second Umm Qurā report is also transmitted with an incomplete chain. So Bihār documents the disagreement. It does not resolve it gaskiya

ʿUyūn Akhbār alRiḍā and Nahj alBalāghah call him “the ummī Prophet,” but that title alone does not mean “Meccan.” and Qur’an Hadi is a platform collecting material, not an independent transmission. As for al-Kāfī, provide the exact narration and chain please (with no offense or sarcasm intended it's just for my education)

I also scrutinized if any hadith proves your point and found a hadith in Sahih Bukhārī 3184 which came close, but it does not establish that he wrote the Hudaybiyyah treaty either. Bukhārī 3184 explicitly says ʿAlī began writing and that the Prophet “did not write.” When ʿAlī refused to erase “Messenger of Allah,” the Prophet asked to be shown its location and erased it with his hand. Bukhārī 2698 gives the same sequence. The shortened wording “he wrote” in another route cannot override the explicit account identifying ʿAlī as the scribe.

Allah made his prior non-reading and non-writing evidence for the Qur’an in 29:48. His ummiyyah was therefore an evidentiary distinction, not an intellectual deficiency.
