So when engaging in a debate you must do research on your opponent & the topic at hand & not surface level stuff. Sometimes what your debating is just misinformation ir sentiment. However their may be something credible in your position, but your framing needs adjusting.

Many debates that i have watched aren't debates it's people posturing for their team. Many rely on information that was published and distorted to present a fake reality, land of honey and milk etc. Sounds familiar, removing historical facts from history bokks and schools.

For example how could ypu lose a debate to an outsider about the way the inside of your house looks if they have never seen it. You fail in debating people who bring you to war on their turf and terms.

Where people fail in debates is that they are debating things they don't have a historical and holistic knowledge of and the positions they take are not ones that they have fully thought through , they are only the opinions/facts they have accepted to be true.

When engaging in a ideological debate it is best as in most things in life. It'sbest you asses the risks. You should know your opponent & their postion and yourself. You also should have a factual knowledge base on the topic on hand.
