Join us in building the Tree of Life for all plants! In this 2-year postdoc project you’ll work with a strong international team to push the frontiers in molecular phylogenetics. Based in Gothenburg, Sweden at @GGBC_GU. Read more and apply at https://t.co/RBBYko2Qkr. Please RT!
For my #BioInformatics class, I wrote a #d3js interactive #dataviz to teach my students the difference between an unrooted and rooted phylogeny.
This displays a simplified version of the @sabeti_lab's Ebola virus phylogeny - root-to-tip regression is next!
Eschmeyer's Catalog of Fishes is updated today with a new feature from Ronald Fricke: Authors' Species Description "Batting Averages". See how many recent fish species each author has described and how many are still valid: https://t.co/4ZAK5BXOFW
New paper alert! Our (@Tagliacollo & @m_vidalgarcia) new study has just been published (https://t.co/zegbkMifSP) where we find mosaic patterns of skull shape evolution in the electric fish skull! We find that the mandible evolves 4x faster than the rest of the skull
High plasticity in karyotype evolution of Gymnotus spp.

A clever approach to use correlations between broad-scale taxonomic and genetic differentiation to disentangle historical, geographical and ecological processes on beta diversities in freshwater fishes. History wins. @marinetheotisse @BLeroyEcology

Happy to finally publish my third dissertation chapter, a phylogeny of apteronotid AKA ghost knifefishes. These fish are poorly known, but they make up a huge portion of the biomass in Neotropical rivers like the Amazon. https://t.co/rvXi2Jrtpw
I'm pleased to announce the release of our R package `fishtree`, which provides easy access to phylogenetic data products from our recent ray-finned fish tree of life.

I think when we constrain monophyly of a group, like when we're constraining ingroup monophyly or using a backbone, we should have to add a little padlock symbol to the node when we make our figures, like this
