Bologna Children's Book Fair 2026 Highlight
🌲Welcome to TAIWAN STORY FOREST🌲
This April, TAICCA (Taiwan Creative Content Agency) brought Taiwan's vibrant storytelling scene to the world's biggest children's book fair in Bologna, Italy — and we made our mark.
Organized by TAICCA and co-organized by the Taipei Book Fair Foundation, the Taiwan Pavilion transformed into a lush green "TAIWAN Story Forest," showcasing the creative energy of 35 publishers and 228 original works from Taiwan. 🇹🇼✨
🌟 Highlight 1 | Taiwan's IP Power on the Global Stage
For the second time, Taiwan stepped into Bologna's Licensing Trade Fair — and we came with our heaviest hitters. Jimmy Liao's The Moon Forgots and beloved children IP The Duckbill (達克比) leading the way, showing that Taiwanese stories are ready to go cross-media, cross-border, and cross-industry.
🌟 Highlight 2 | Talented Taiwanese Creators at Bologna
Three celebrated Taiwanese author and illustrators attended Bologna this year — and all three are nominated for the prestigious Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (ALMA):
🖊️ Bei Lynn (林小杯) 🖊️ Hsu-Kung LIU (劉旭恭) 🖊️ Yih-Fen CHOU (周逸芬)
On the opening day, they took the @bolognabookplus stage to share how their stories travel across cultures, drawing publishers, illustrators, and fans from around the world. 🌍
Bei Lynn was invited to read Article 32 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in Taiwanese, letting the world hear Taiwan's diverse voices. 🗣️🌿
Hsu-Kung LIU hosted a handmade book workshop at the fair. On April 15, both creators came together for a Live Portrait Session at the Taiwan Pavilion, drawing portraits for visitors who stopped by. 🎨
🌟 Highlight 3 | Sold Out in a Flash!
The energy on the floor was electric and the deals followed. Works including:
📗 Little Monk Writes Rain by Hsu-Kung LIU (劉旭恭)
📗 Sin-ki Hàn-ióh-pâng by Chen Chien-Jung (陳芊榕)
📗 Playing in a Dream by Sen (森森)
…sold quickly and sparked strong international interest. 🔥
🌟 Highlight 4 | 6 Illustrators Selected for the Bologna Illustrators Exhibition
Taiwan ranked 3rd globally with 6 creators selected from over 4,000 submissions across 88 countries. 🎨
It's a result that speaks to the depth and distinctiveness of Taiwan's illustration scene — where every selected work carries its own visual voice.
From the page to rights deals to cross-industry development, Taiwan's creative content is steadily connecting the dots. International fairs like Bologna bring creators, publishers, and rights holders closer together — giving every story a chance to travel further, and to keep being read across languages and cultures.
May Taiwan's Story Forest bloom across the world. 🌲🌍

Veteran literary agent Gray Tan, well-versed in the Thai market, shared that publishing ties between Taiwan and Thailand are strengthening, with growing interest across genres ranging from BL 💕 and horror 👁️🗨️ to mystery 🔍 and self-help 🌱.

🎶 Taiwanese Indie Music Lit Up Bangkok!
Last weekend, five Taiwanese musicians performed at Bangkok Music City (BMC), bringing their sounds from Taiwan’s indie scene straight to the heart of Bangkok’s old town.
✨ LINION kicked things off with “Wall.Eyes.Knee” — a playful Mandarin pun (it sounds like “I love you”), teaching the crowd a fun Chinese phrase and instantly breaking the ice.
✨ Lilium blended traditional elements with indie rock, weaving together instruments like yueqin, recorder, and electric guitar.
✨ Our Shame surprised the audience with a Thai-language version of “Beach Dog”, sparking an immediate emotional connection — with LINION making a special appearance on stage to join the performance.
✨ Ahh G turned the historic Grand Post Office Theatre into a dance floor, delivering an energetic set filled with groove and city-pop vibes.
✨ FTK closed with his signature electronic sound inspired by Southeast Asian themes, earning high praise from international promoters on site.
The passion and energy of Thai audiences left a deep impression on the artists. Many shared how powerful it felt to connect beyond language, and really enjoy the vibe of Thailand's stage.
Beyond the stage, Taiwan’s music industry delegation was also busy. One industry representative summed it up perfectly:
“BMC is the front line of industry exchange. You have to treat yourself like a super salesperson — pitching your artists or projects clearly, fast, and memorably.”
Big thanks to Bangkok Music City for providing such an important platform connecting Asia’s music industry with the world. We’re excited to be part of this journey with you, and proud that TAICCA can be your partner.💪💪💪
See you next year — and here’s to even more music exchanges between Taiwan and Thailand 🇹🇼🇹🇭🎶
