Read like your life depends on it. Because it does.
Community pharmacies, even though informal in many ways, are primary healthcare facilities. What separates pharmacies is not just the drugs on the shelves, but what the pharmacist knows and, more importantly, how they apply that knowledge.
If you misassess a patient and the treatment doesn’t work, they won’t say, “The pharmacist made the wrong call.” They will tell others that “their drugs don’t work.” Your reputation goes down the drain.
Know your limits as a pharmacist. There are cases where your first point of call should be referral to a hospital. For example, a quinsy abscess. We might joke about it, but if you see a case like that, refer quickly. Another example is hypertensive urgency or emergency. Tell them to go to the hospital. Knowing the difference can be tricky and often requires more clinical assessment than pharmaceutical care alone, even if you have the theoretical knowledge.
Be very good with the common diseases in your area: hypertension, diabetes, and infectious diseases.
Be ready to educate. It can be tiring, but it is part of the job.
There will be temptations. Train your mind.
Be friendly with other healthcare professionals. When they come to the pharmacy, slow down and interact with them. Use their specialty to gain their trust. I tease almost every healthcare professional I meet and allow them to revel in their drug or specialty knowledge. They might tell you the right drugs to stock and provide useful insights you wouldn’t get elsewhere.
Go and learn inventory control and stocking protocols. Clinical knowledge alone is not enough to run a successful community pharmacy.
Today, I learnt that Olugbenga Agboola, Flutterwave’s co-founder/CEO, studied Electrical Engineering at OAU.
Nigeria has produced 5 tech unicorns: Moniepoint, Flutterwave, Interswitch, Andela and OPay. Founders of 2 of them are OAU alumni.
That pattern is not random.
When students hear about alumni who have built big things, or see their peers at Nacos Library or White House Oven cooking up products, something changes.
It is the same pattern with UNILAG and big tech transitions. When students keep seeing seniors land global internships and top tech roles, ambition becomes normal.
Sometimes, people don’t just need talent. They need proof that someone from their own environment has done it before.
Asake made songs we could relate to because at some point, we were all in the same headspace. Today, he’s in a different headspace that a lot of us cannot relate to and that’s why there’s seemingly a disconnect.
But remove the need to be in the same headspace as Mr M$NEY and you have yourself an enjoyable album.

“Buhari printed ₦30 trillion. So you want Tinubu to do magic to replace that ₦30 trillion?
When Bola Tinubu came in, I told him, 'Sir, let us publish the data that we're inheriting,' but people said, 'Because we're in the same political party, it will cause some distractions.'
Bola Tinubu met just 0.5% cash-to-GDP.”

I’ve said it times without number that if I am a Pharmacist, I won’t dwell much on finding jobs where I’ll be dispensing drugs over the counter at a pharmaceutical store or in the hospital, my target will be looking for roles in clinical studies, QA roles in big Pharmaceutical industries, Clinical Supply chain Study leads/Planners/Program leads in big pharmaceutical industry, Key Account manager in Pharm industry, Medical Sales rep or a Medical information specialist at a Pharmaceutical industry.
I echoed same thought with my friend who’s a Pharmacist practicing as a Medical information Specialist with Pfizer & she echoed same thought.
PS- I’m driven by money, neglect if it’s passion for drugs dispensing/advisory you prefer.

Is that just a hot take, or a tradable prediction?
@cryptobruh234 from ZYC sat down with @Kikachukwu9 from @predictonfliq to break down how prediction markets actually work, and why they’re closer to trading information than gambling.
