Massive crowd out at Queen's Park today demanding the Premier keep his hands off our public healthcare system. Thank you to everyone who is fighting to put patient care over private profits. #onpoli#patientsnotprofits
A watchdog said his handling of the Greenbelt files was “chaotic and almost reckless.” Now, new information links Ryan Amato, the political staffer at the centre of the Greenbelt scandal, to the head of the Ontario Provincial Police. #onpoli@Thetrilliumca https://t.co/sWIQrase5Z
After 11 months of dogged reporting from The Narwhal and beyond, Doug Ford has succumbed to public pressure and walked back his controversial Greenbelt plans. It highlights the role of independent journalism, @balkissoon writes in this week’s newsletter. https://t.co/zeBqQKZgee

Brilliant speech by @MarkJCarney at the #GlobalProgressAction23
“…and that’s our calling, to build. Progressives build things that last: healthcare, infrastructure, schools, opportunities, sustainability, and prosperity. Now others have a different model. They are in the demolition business. Far-right populists see the anxiety of today as an opportunity to stoke the anger that’s necessary for their project. …their solution ‘to take back control’ ended up code for ‘tear down the future’.”

This morning at the Justice Policy Committee I asked the Sollicitor General how he was addressing the crisis of mental health and addictions which has devastating effects in Ottawa and elsewhere in the province.

BREAKING: Federal government to announce the forgiveness of GST on rental housing. This will do two things:
1) tip some new housing developments that have been put on ice due to high interest rates back into construction = more supply
2) incentivize some developers to build rental housing, instead of condos...in other words, homes for Canadians instead of units for investors = more homes for Canadians
I'll be on @CP24 later today explaining the tangible implications of this policy for changing housing supply in Canada. It is significant.
This is - potentially - the beginning of a sea change. It is a new approach.
So let me get this straight. The Trudeau government promised a 'new' initiative to deal with the housing crisis and actually announced a small London Ontario allocation from a fund it launched in the spring. The mind reels.
While no one was looking, the Ford govt released their perpetually delayed Provincial Climate Change Impact Assessment.
It paints a grim picture of Ontario’s climate future, and it’s a stark reminder that we need drastic climate action now. #onpoli
