@FerretScot Wasn’t Corin Smith the individual that tried, and failed, to extort money from the salmon farming industry to ‘maintain his silence’ ? Think you might have missed that bit out?
@BylinesScotland Could you please pass this on to the author ? He’s only out on his history by a hundred years or so, an insult to Scottish ingenuity and testimony to concerns for diminishing fish stocks extending way back into the 19th C.

@JackPerksPhoto Hi Jack, any chance on commenting on your decidedly one sided podcast about salmon farming ? Note you have blocked any comments and @wildfishcons have historically blocked any and all possibly differing opinions including ourselves. Any chance for an open exchange of views ?
“Our ocean is in trouble. Yes. This is a fundamental point that we can agree on. But suggesting that we shut down sustainable fishing and aquaculture operations is not an appropriate way to address any of these problems.”

@ProtectOurShore@ArianeBurgessHI@markruskell@MaggieChapman Here was the original ‘doubling’ statement from 2016, significantly taken out of context thereafter. This was a value, not volume, proposition. Looking backwards can be handy sometimes, can’t it?

Environmental groups and NGO’s have long voiced support for the idea of land based salmon farming. It’s remarkable how quickly this changes when one is actually proposed.

@1606kenreid Fantastic effort Ken, perhaps you should look again at your breakfast pic. We’re guessing a white fish, likely smoked. Consider asking next time.
@1606kenreid Hi Ken, thanks for thinking about us while you are on holiday in Vienna, that doesnt look like salmon, but from our previous interactions am guessing you haven’t asked, or know a word of German anyway. Have fun.
This is a common and well repeated modern myth. Salmon are stocked in pens in the ocean wherein 98% is open water. What and why would you think that salmon farmers would ever gain from ‘crowding’ fish ? It’s in the best interests of fish farmers to give their stock the best they can.
@crankitupgear@ArianeBurgessHI Thanks Davy, when you are unwell would you say similar to your own doctor? Surely all farmers should look after the welfare of their stock. There are no farmed animals that don’t require this attention.
“We cannot be stripping our oceans, we have to do aquaculture”
Great insight from a bunch of great fish farmers compromised by short term politics :

“We are the original environmentalists, not the fancy downtown activists…We protect the wild salmon while at the same time exploring opportunities of a growing sustainable salmon farming industry that supports the future of our communities”
