At the Ohio Statehouse today, we remembered the horrors of the Holocaust during the 46th Annual Ohio Governor's Holocaust Commemoration. Tragically, antisemitic acts and speech still continue around the world — proving why we must take time to purposefully reflect on the critical lessons of the Holocaust, so as not to repeat them. We simply cannot tolerate the rising tide of antisemitic rhetoric. All of us must loudly speak out against hatred.
I have received notice that the dignified transfer of Ohio's three airmen killed overseas last week will take place tomorrow. Fran and I will join senior staff from the Ohio National Guard to travel to Dover Air Force Base to pay our respects to Capt. Seth Koval, Capt. Curtis Angst, and Master Sgt. Tyler Simmons, who was posthumously promoted by Ohio's Adjutant General from the rank of technical sergeant.
In honor of the life and service of three members of the Ohio Air National Guard killed during Operation Epic Fury, I have ordered flags lowered on all public buildings and grounds throughout the state.

I have been advised by Ohio's Adjutant General that three of the six servicemembers killed during the air refueling mission in Iraq were Ohioans deployed with the Ohio Air National Guard's 121st Air Refueling Wing. Fran and I are deeply saddened by this news and offer our sincere condolences to their families.
Many congratulations to @OHNationalGuard Adjutant General Matthew Woodruff on his promotion today to the rank of major general. This honor is well-deserved, resulting from his many faithful years of service to our state and nation's military.
Fran and I congratulate State Representative @HarazGhanbari on his promotion to the rank of Commander in the U.S. Navy! We thank you for your service to our great country and state.
Fran and I truly appreciate the work of our Ohio National Guard members who are serving in Washington D.C. We presented eight members with a special challenge coin today for going above and beyond.
Fran and I are saddened to learn about the line of duty death of Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Nicholas Cayton. This is a heartbreaking loss for his family, OSHP, and all Ohioans. Every day, law enforcement officers put their lives on the line to protect the people of our state. Fran and I extend our deepest condolences to Trooper Cayton’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time, and we will keep them all in our prayers.

Ohio is truly the heart of it all, so it’s no surprise that more people are moving here. We are excited to welcome new Ohioans to our state! #OhioTheHeartofitAll
