In 2015, 11 year old Brandon Bakke learned something that changed the way he saw his own story.

His biological father, Terrence E. Burnam, had died from an asthma attack before they ever had the chance to meet. Brandon also discovered that his father had been buried without a headstone because his family couldn't afford one.

He decided to change that himself.

All summer long, Brandon mowed lawns around his neighborhood, saving every dollar he could. His goal was simple. He wanted the man who gave him life to have a name that would never be forgotten.

When people heard what he was doing, Dakota Monument stepped forward and donated the headstone. Burr Oak Cemetery waived its fees, and in October 2016, Brandon stood beside his father's grave for the first time. It was also the first time he met many members of his biological family.

Later, Brandon started a project called Mowing and Blowing for a Purpose to help other families who couldn't afford headstones.

He never got the chance to meet his father. But through one summer of hard work, he made sure the world would always know where he rests.

In 2007, James Bowen was living in supported housing in North London after years of homelessness and heroin addiction. He was busking on the streets and trying to get through one day at a time when he noticed an injured ginger cat sitting alone in the hallway of his building.

This poor guy thought he lost his dog…

He’s driving around looking for him, even stops people going the other way to ask if they’ve seen a dog. They calmly tell him, “There’s one on top of your truck.”

He looks up… and sure enough, his dog is just riding on the roof like it’s the most normal thing in the world.
The pure relief and shock on his face is everything 😂
