@tontytrains@ScouseWolfy@TatchellWatch@AidanTheJester Tatchell never listened to any of these painfully clear critiques--I've been watching for around 30 years. He did learn to be more discreet in speaking over global South activists, mainly after Jamaicans blasted him. But he just transferred his imperialism to the trans community.
@ScouseWolfy@TatchellWatch@AidanTheJester It was a huge part of my own education as a white cis gay man - seeing black people telling him not to speak for them, and me having to learn why that was important. The only thing Tatchell has ever learned is how to get £££
@tontytrains@TatchellWatch@AidanTheJester Yup, 100%
He always spokes/speaks with a ‘white cis male’ privilege - yes he spoke against ‘gay’ prejudice - but could never see beyond that binary.
Always seems to me to be scared of the real world.
@ScouseWolfy@TatchellWatch@AidanTheJester Tbh even in the late 80s he was speaking over black LGBT people. He's always done this and he's always ignored people from minority groups telling him not to speak for them.
You're right that there was a time when he spoke truth to power, and I used to look up to him lol
@mimmymum@TatchellWatch@PeterTatchell The thing that makes me so disgusted about him is that for 40 years now, minitorities within the LGBT community have been saying exactly the same thing, and not once has he listened. He's only interested in getting his name and face out there
@PeterTatchell You literally said in a previous tweet, that is still there to have private rooms or trans wards. It's possible you are trying to defend trans people but to do that you need to listen to them. You really need to take responsibility for this.
@PeterTatchell No Peter. I do not want my daughter outed & treated like a danger who needs to be kept away from other women. She’s not a problem to be dealt with, she’s a woman who may need hospital care one day & is entitled to the same dignity as anyone else.
@PeterTatchell If you're going to speak on trans issues, at least have a trans person go over your comment with you before you speak.
I'm so sick of people talking about us rather than letting us speak and listening to us.
@PeterTatchell pontificating on healthcare delivery who knowing nothing about it
“A trans ward” 🙄patients are cared for in specialist areas were they will receive expert care
Patients could need oncology , surgical , haematology etc. expertise
Why should trans women get substandard care
@PeterTatchell You are so wrong Peter.
Stop talking for trans people. As an 'ally' you need to listen to trans people & uplift their voices.
Biology is not straightforward & simple. You should already know this.
@PeterTatchell Segregate trans people in prisons, hospitals, sports, education, social spaces - force trans people out of employment and the great Peter Tatchell campaigner for equal rights cheers them along - bravo peter
@PeterTatchell Peter, I somehow doubt you'd allow a straight guy to needlessly grandstand and (incorrectly) speak up for the needs and wants of gay people - so why are you doing it for trans folk?
@PeterTatchell So wrong here, Peter.....so wrong. As gay men, we can (and should) be effective allies to Trans and NB people, but we do not speak for them, nor should we speak over them.
@PeterTatchell Peter I’ve just spent a week on a specialist diabetes ward, in the men’s section, with absolutely no issues. Imagine if I’d had to go to some “trans ward” in a completely different part of the hospital. Would I have received the same specialist care I needed?
@PeterTatchell Peter can you not see how problematic and dangerous it would be to have a “here’s a room full of vulnerable trans people” situation?? Please stop speaking over the voices you’re claiming to be an ally of
@PeterTatchell You really need to stop talking for us. You’re not helping. Trans people do not want, or need, their own ward.
As for having a private room on an NHS ward, that would be a luxury for anybody. However, that’s something I would rather not have if it’s a result from discrimination.
