I just want to make the world a better place by doing my part to help. But it's really hard to stay motivated and optimistic when the government of my country is actively trying to undo every step forward we've taken in the last 50 years.

Tldr, US health ins is a racket and is why so many people joke about flying out of the country to go get surgeries and the like elsewhere. It's why we would rather suffer in pain than pay for a Dr. It's why we put off appts and why everyone dreads dealing with them. It's fucked.

US health care rant: I just got told while confirming my basic eye appt for tomorrow (with the eye Dr I'm already a patient with) that I need to bring my referral from my pcp. The health insurance plan I have been on for 7 years now requires one.

I had months, literal MONTHS I could have met the pcp and gotten this all set. Instead less than 24 hours from go time, I've been given this requirement, unless I want to pay hundreds of dollars out of pocket. What. The. Hell.
