Horizon League Statement on Board of Directors Decision to Restore Eligibility of UIC Student-Athletes for League Championships

[Josh Flickinger @jflick1215]

This is absurd. UIC decides to leave the Horizon League. Conference affiliations change ALL the time now. Horizon League's response is to ban all UIC programs from participating in conference championships. This has ZERO to do with the athletes!

[Andrew Frommer @Frommz]

@HorizonLeague, you mention integrity more than once in your core values! Take a deep breath (maybe reread your own core values) and do the right thing. You know who this is actually hurting! You can make a good decision as quick as you made a bad one. FIX THIS #DontBlameTheFlame

[Will Crocker @willcrocker2]

The @HorizonLeague is robbing our student athletes an opportunity to compete for conference titles. This coming off of 2 years of missing championships due to covid… tell me how this benefits anyone? 🤔

[Bailey Moran @Baileymoran5]

Actions speak louder than words. Show you actually care about athletes by letting us compete.

@HorizonLeague, destroying hundreds of athletes the opportunity to showcase all their hours of hard work into their sport. The Conference Championship is what we train for all year long. All I have to ask is why? Why do us athletes have to pay for this decision that wasn’t ours.

[Luke Malone @lmalone360]

Student athletes getting punished for a decision we had no part in making… @HorizonLeague going against their own ideals of looking out & providing opportunities for student athletes
