@NFL Are we not going to talk about the part where the Chiefs failed the 4th down conversion, and only after the play did the refs decide to honor the Bills TO and give the Chiefs another attempt?
@BrendenDeeg_ You spent the past two weeks calling 49ers fans sore losers for complaining about the officiating. Sound like you can dish it out but can't take it.
@JPolykoff@BrendenDeeg_@iAmThatBoyAB Your point is that he wasn't the original starter, and you're right, Wentz was. Foles was 2nd string, same as Garoppolo in our depth chart - and if Garoppolo had started (or even come in for Purdy) during that game, we would've still had a fun game to watch.
@JPolykoff@BrendenDeeg_@iAmThatBoyAB He was the starting QB, which means he planned and practiced with the first team offense, and played the entire game. Comparable would be if Foles had gone down in the 1st quarter and the birds had to figure it out with Nate Sudfeld catching snaps. No Philly Special ๐
@AlanPlotzker@gv49ers@BrendenDeeg_ Refs tied the record for 1st downs awarded to a single team in a playoff game.
And with the benefit of replay, the broadcast booth said they weren't sure what was being called over and over. Unlucky that those calls kept coming when the Eagles failed to convert on 3rd down.
@Dark_Savage869@gv49ers@PhilliezPhan@BrendenDeeg_ Jimmy got hurt a month after the trade deadline. There weren't any unsigned startable QBs available at that point.
Best hope was Jimmy being healthy, but that didn't happen.
@TimothyChesnav1@BrendenDeeg_@iAmThatBoyAB The refs said Smith caught a ball that he didn't catch. Eagles fans had plenty to say about Elliott's kick. Fact is, everyone hates when the refs blow a call.
And again - the game is in the books, birds won. It wasn't enjoyable because of Purdy's injury and subpar officiating.
@BrendenDeeg_@iAmThatBoyAB Bottom line - Eagles won the game, and are in the SB. That's tough to do under any conditions, so congratulations. Hopefully Hurts doesn't get ruled out in the first quarter, or you might start to understand what the niners are feeling.
@BrendenDeeg_@iAmThatBoyAB You don't get it.
Niners and their fans wanted to watch an exciting game, and they didn't get that. Between Purdy's injury and the officials giving the Eagles a record number of first downs (especially Smith's no catch), the NFL did not produce an enjoyable game to watch.
@BrendenDeeg_@iAmThatBoyAB And an aside, before Eagles fans jump on the officiating comment - search for Jake Elliott kick real quick. Then tell everyone that the niners are just upset because they lost.
@BrendenDeeg_@iAmThatBoyAB Now if this was the regular season, we'd all be moving on to next week and hoping it's 'just one game'. But this was the NFC Championship, one of the biggest games of the year. It should not feel like a TKO 12 minutes into the game; that is a defective entertainment product.
@MarcIstook@nfl Hussey and his crew need to be dismissed after that performance. And the league needs to make full-time officiating a top priority this off-season.
@MarkSagara@AdamSchefter All the players and staff are professionals, and are incentivized to accumulate stats and win games. Lions wouldn't sit anyone, and it would be too late to change the game plan. But yeah, knowing they're out could take some players' hearts out of it
