At the end of this semester, I feel more comfortable discussing #interpersonalconflict. I am very non confrontational, but I have learned to see conflict in a potentially transformative/positive light. Thanks #CA321 for teaching me to analyze and handle conflict in my own life!
If you had to boil interpersonal conflict down into only key words, what would you say? I would say communication, perception, goals, and interests are the biggest factors that affect #interpersonalconflict and power and emotion affect reactions. #CA321
I am noticing concepts of #CA321 in my life. The best learning tool for me was the TRIP model. My brother and mom were having a conflict, and I played mediator because I helped them identify their goals and how they relate to each other. Great #interpersonalconflict skills!
@AudraGustin First I would tell the mediator that they need to act impartially, and if they show that they can’t separate their role as friend/family/personal beliefs from their job as a mediator, then it is time to get a new one! #ca321#interpersonalconflict
@johnathiq I am a lot more emotionally intelligent now. If I could go back, I would try to look at their perspective and be more empathetic, and also use better communication. #interpersonalconflict#ca321
@Caleb_Dixon135 I feel more educated, but do not feel like I could ever be a mediator. I tend to over simplify situations, and in my head as soon as I read the prompts, I thought, “These two just need a fence.” I unintentionally make decisions without consulting #ca321#interpersonalconflict

@johnathiq During my time in Europe I relied on compassion. Sometimes I had difficulty understanding someone and other times they didn’t understand me. It helped when we both stayed patient and worked through the miscommunication until we understood each other. #ca321#interpersonalconflict
@the_dr_is_quinn I also get caught up on small issues for my own conflicts. (He didn’t talk to me in class, he used a period in a text...). However, when I’m a third party person, I see the conflict as a whole and find it easier to identify the TRIP model. #ca321#interpersonalconflict
I feel like this graph from the Park University Career Center Instagram account is incredibly relevant to class! I know I can relate! #ca321#interpersonalconflict
@S_Bowlin98 My 5 main emotions would probably be joy, sadness, hurt, excitement, and fear. Personally, I experience pleasant emotions more often but feel the unpleasant emotions more deeply. (Also, intertextual connection! Inside Out has 5 main emotions!) #ca321#interpersonalconflict
@lemons2790 That is how I cope too! It’s the “accommodating” style. I dislike feeling like I’m forcing someone to see something my way, so instead I focus on their goals. It is better than avoiding but not as productive as some other types of conflict. #ca321#interpersonalconflict
@camit_the_frog In mine, I was both frustrated and apathetic. This caused me to up and stop fighting for the person on the other end of my conflict. Personally I believe that apathy is the worst emotion because it is when you stop trying. #ca321#interpersonalconflict
@daltonm83882165 I have never considered “over compromising” to be an issue, but it makes sense! It’s something that avoiders tend to do—over compromise to get the conflict over quickly rather than actually resolving it. #ca321#interpersonalcommunications
@camelinjaycee I would say the best way to have constructive conflict is to avoid attacking the other person’s beliefs even if you disagree w them, & instead try to see where they are coming from. Calmly explaining your ideas is the best way to be productive! #ca321#interpersonalcommunications
It’s interesting how much our word choices and our reactions impact a situation. All of the statements in this article can be revised into I Statements—an easy concept, yet difficult to implement in our every day lives. #ca321#interpersonalconflict
For my professional writing class, we took a test to determine our personality type in order to help us figure out how well we work in groups. I think it shows a lot about individual communication styles. Check it out! https://t.co/c2oI7lrG0I #CA321#InterpersonalConflict
