Sometimes you query for months w/ no luck & you think you must actually suck @ writing.
Then sometimes you get your first full request < 12 hours after sending the query.

@laurenspieller What level of revisions would you need to reconsider a project? I had queried a romcom-forward horror at the beginning of the summer, and have since reworked opening chapters and the pacing. Would you prefer more editing/revision than that? And when can we try again after a no?

@DanFitzWrites Also, note that even w/ light cargo, horses in peak condition would only be able to go 10-35 miles a day when pulling a load--that's equal or slower than a human walking. So the country in question will have to be v small if this is a cross country trip.

@DanFitzWrites If they travel daily those weeks, I'd say 4 days min personally. Lessens to maybe 3 if you have rest days during the 2 weeks out. The biggest risk is harness sores @ that length of journey, followed by muscle strain, lost shoes, & fatigue. All risk less w/ rest days along the way

Pros of dog bathing job: Money, dogs, lots of time to think
Cons: truly impossible to write down said thoughts (which are gone as soon as you get time in the evenings), wet All The Time, somehow still have dog hair on you even after showering

Ain't had conjunctivitis for literally 2 decades, but 3 weeks into preschool my child brings it home and now *I* can't see out of one eye. Meanwhile two doses of eyedrops and she's fine (which is great!) but I now have to do oral antibiotics about it. -_- #parentlife amirite?

When an author you admire tells you that the query letter you've been agonizing over to the point of nearly giving up is one of the strongest they've ever read, your pages are great, and your story sounds fantastic (all caps) & intriguing 😭😭😭

Idk what I created in that yogurt maker, but it was NOT yogurt. Whatever happened in there was horrifying, both for the poor bacteria who clearly lost a vicious war with their more monstrous cousins, and for me, the idiot who (thankfully?) taste tested it.🤢

To be clear, I'm not opposed to the concept of AI or learning models in general. But I am massively against the way they're being made/trained (THEFT), the people they're run by, & the way ppl are trying to use it to put creatives (ME!) out of work.

Nobody has solid answers on target ages in genre fic and as a querying writer I'm both confused & MAD.
