@TheMessiah0713@carleolson If the Trinity is the central doctrine of Christianity, why doesn't a single prophet, apostle, or Jesus Himself ever teach it plainly? You're relying on post-biblical theology because the biblical text never actually says what you're claiming it says.
@TheMessiah0713@carleolson What you've presented is a theological conclusion, not a biblical statement. The problem is that concepts like "one essence," "three co-equal persons," and "one indivisible substance" aren't found anywhere in the text. You’re importing from later theological sources to explain.
@JustinPickerel I believe Grace is a free gift from God through Jesus Christ and that no one can earn salvation or overcome sin without Christ’s atonement. So we agree.
@JustinPickerel Romans 11:6 isn’t talking about whether Christians should obey Christ, repent, be baptized, or follow God. Paul is arguing that salvation is not earned by the works of the Mosaic Law.
Ironically, the Book of Mormon agrees:
“By the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ.”
@residentreformr Matthew 7:22-23 isn’t about people doing too many good works. It’s about people who thought their religious activities proved they belonged to Christ. Jesus doesn’t condemn them for serving others—He condemns them because He “never knew” them and they practiced lawlessness.
@TheMessiah0713@carleolson That’s not exegesis. That’s importing 4th-century creedal language into a 1st-century text and then claiming the text teaches it.
@TheMessiah0713@carleolson You say Matthew 28:19 teaches “one God, three distinct persons, one indivisible nature.” Where does the verse say any of that? It mentions the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It says nothing about essence, substance, co-equality, co-eternity, or an indivisible divine nature.
@MikeWingerii@JustinPickerel This is what happens when we have no prophet or apostles to correct these teachings. They’re all over the place with Christianity. These people claiming to say the Creed’s and the ideas found within the creeds are biblical is insane. Look at the fruit.
