The Town & Country team had the absolute best time hanging out with an amazing local Home School Co-Op!
We had a blast talking all about insects and learning exactly what they’re looking for when they wander indoors (hint: they usually just want a snack and a break from the chilly Rochester weather, just like us!).
We also shared our team's gameplan for how we keep those unwanted bugs outside where they belong, so our homes stay comfy and pest-free.
It’s always a great day when we get to step out of the trucks and share our passion with our neighbors. A huge shoutout to these bright young students for being such fantastic listeners!

Happy Galentines Day!" 🩷
We understand that self-care is important and nobody wants to deal with stinky bugs this weekend. We've come up with some helpful tips to keep those creepy crawlies away.
Which "love bug" do you think is worse the Stink Bug or the Kissing Bug? 🙅♀️
Here is the reality for the Finger Lakes region:
1️⃣ The "False Thaw" is Coming: The temperature spike this weekend will trick overwintering Stink Bugs into thinking spring has sprung. They are about to emerge from your walls looking for heat.
2️⃣ The "Kissing Bug" Myth: Don't let the headlines scare you. True Kissing Bugs (Triatomines) are tropical blood-feeders that can't survive the deep freeze we just had. The bug crashing your party is a Brown Marmorated Stink Bug . It’s a herbivore, not a vampire.
3️⃣ The Golden Rule: Do not squish them. If you crush them, they release a defense pheromone that smells like rancid cilantro (and attracts more).
The Fix: Use a dry vacuum hose. Suck them up, then empty the canister outside immediately.

If the vacuum isn't keeping up and the stink bugs keep swarming, your home needs treatment!

We got "bugged" on this one. 🤔
Correction: The pest in a previous post was Beetle Larvae, not a Book Louse.
Why the mix-up? In the Finger Lakes region, these two are the "lookalike" champions of the pest world.
But the treatment is totally different: Lice = Fix the moisture. Larvae = Find the food source.
When we learn something new—or get corrected by a sharp viewer—we pass that knowledge straight to you.
