Album Review for It’s Been Awful by Isaiah Rashad
Damn, 5 whole ass years, and this is the album we get… like this is wild. This album is really fucking awesome bro. Lemme explain, this man managed to not only evolve as an artist, but he also managed to create his most cohesive project to date. There were so many elements to this project that showed not only growth but an incredible amount of artistry.
Isaiah really has allowed his lyrical capabilities flourish with how detailed and unique his bars are. Nothing is overly complicated but you feel that you have a sense of relatability and understanding of the message that he is trying to convey. Being able to create characters, highlight that growing isn’t as simple as it should be and also that sometimes you just have to go through shit just to get through the day.
The production on this album really is top notch. There are so many soulful and Jazz inspired samples that you really get a clear idea of the plans for the project. There are also some really great use of blues and even some psychedelic elements as well that warps some of the production into the lyrics creating a masterful blended sound. Don’t get it twisted, it isn’t all about low-fi beats. There are some real solid bass hits and a few tracks you can definitely get up and move to. The album from top to bottom is a carefully crafted masterpiece from all the different mixes of production and instrumentation and it flows so well.
Honestly, this album has tons of replay value, and there are so many tracks that fit so many different vibes. Even with how heavy some of the actual lyrical content is, the production brings it together and allows this to be essentially one of the best albums of 2026. Zay really outdid himself with this one.

BREAKING — The Faith Militant’s Jaden Ivey, who was recently stripped of his knighthood, has sent a raven saying:
I knew no gods, old nor new. When I came to King’s Landing I lay with women in the pleasure houses of Flea Bottom, drank until the morn came.
That was the world I knew. After won tilts, I felt as though the realm itself had been laid at my feet.
