Way back when Florida was struggling mightily at the start of the 2024 season, the Billy Napier sunshine pumpers asked the question with their faux self-righteous rage.
“If Napier leaves, Lagway leaves with him, is that what you want?”
Yes. The answer was always yes. It was yes then and it’s still a yes now.
That doesn’t mean I’m not sad to see Lagway go. He was a class act from day one. And I still believe his talent can be salvaged somewhere else.
But this was always the second part of the deal. There was always going to be immense joy at the first part (Napier’s firing) before the frustration of the painful second part. But deep down, I think we all knew this was just part of it.
I’m a fan of Lagway as a player and as a man. But this is a business. Florida made a simple business transaction— one that we all wanted Florida to make— and we have to remember that this is part of it.

Georgia Tech QB Aaron Philo is expected to enter the transfer portal, per reports. Philo will almost certainly be a top target for the Florida #Gators and offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner.
Three-star prospect from the Class of 2024.
Per @CBSSports, Lagway wanted to stay at Florida, but the initial meetings between Lagway and the new staff didn’t go well at all…
Apparently they challenged him and asked him “what he’s about” as a player 😬
"Our staff is recruiting every day in case there's a misinterpretation when we handle recruiting."
