Happy Independence Day, Nigeria.
For a country that has given us so many reasons to complain, Nigerians still find reasons to hope, create, laugh and keep pushing.
Maybe that resilience is our greatest strength.
Here’s to a Nigeria where surviving isn’t the goal anymore, thriving is.
🇳🇬❤️
Lately, I've noticed everybody looks okay until you eventually have a deep conversation with them.
And then you'll realize that, this is a sad generation of people struggling to survive through smiling faces and beautiful pictures.
In Nigeria, we’ve become too good at surviving things that shouldn’t be this hard in the first place.
We call it resilience, but imagine how much more people could achieve if they weren’t constantly fighting just to get by.
I’ve had seasons where I had no results to motivate me, so I had to look at someone else’s story and remind myself it’s possible.
Sometimes borrowed hope is enough to keep you going.
It is normal to sometimes feel discouraged when you're putting in much effort and not seeing result.
Oftentimes, we pull strength from result. When you have result, you find yourself motivated.
But when you don't have the luxury to pull strength from your results, pull it from someone else's result.
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony.
- Rev 12:11
The testimony doesn't have to be yours to be valid. Draw strength from where you can, and keep going. Always bet on yourself.
My sister asked why hilarious GIFs seem to be taking over Twitter instead of normal or lengthy videos.
I told her it’s probably because the internet has trained us to want the joke immediately 😂
It’s not that people have no attention span anymore. We just have 100 things fighting for it at the same time.
If you don't grab their attention in seconds, the next post already has it.
I’ve been noticing the old N100 notes more too, and interestingly, a lot of them are still surprisingly clean.
It actually reminds me of the 2022–23 naira redesign, when cash became extremely scarce, people struggled just to access their own money, and how the situation led to protests, unrest and reported deaths in some places. It’s interesting and sad how, years later, some of those old notes are still circulating.
