@heymrsbond Honestly, the only thing that works is reading it in class. I don’t assign anything outside of class because they don’t do it (for a variety of reasons). If they don’t finish something, they can take it home to finish it, but I assign and give time for everything in class.

I had so many great teachers growing up. Ms. Johnson, Mrs. DeViese, Mrs. Tissue, Mr. Davis, Mrs. Holly, Mrs. Karen, Mrs. Hayes, Mrs. Stafford, Mrs. Stiltner, Ms. Agatha, Mrs. Schrader…and that’s not even counting college.

Students love coming to school for different reasons. Make sure you’re one of the reasons. Be patient, caring, & understanding. Someone they know has their back, but also high expectations because you want the best for them, so they reach their full potential.

* Admit when you've made a mistake
* Say Thank You
* Don't feel like you have to know it all
* Listen to them/ ask them about their interests
* Use humor/ stories
* Let them know/ see you really care

If your WiFi or internet connection is slow over the next few weeks, just know it’s because every educator in America is taking a bloodborne pathogen test online, and we still don’t know why we have to take it EVERY YEAR, but we will get through it as quick as we can.

One of my favourite things I introduced this year (but have improved for next year by adding the inserts!) is DVD case whiteboards.
