@DevinReimer Funnily enough, I found a fan blowing air into my face helped me "feel" I was moving and it lessened. I think it's to do with the inner ear fluids not replicating to the brain what the eye is seeing. Similar to sea sickness below decks. And that's my pseudoscience for the day π
@DevinReimer I found the only games that gave me VR related motion sickness were when I was not rooted. For example, raceing games, flight sims and roller-coaster types. I found that any disconnect between what my body was feeling and eyes were seeing made me nauseous.
@k_shelton@jimohagan@uclafern So by this measure, a lesson is only successful if students turn on, tune in and stay like slaves to the screen till the very end? Incredible! The authers just trashed all of my online learning lessons. Ones that students enjoyed, and thrived in. And I thought didactic was dead!
#eLearningTopTips cont.
See it from the students perspective, make a dummy student account so you can see what they see.
Check with colleagues, try not to overload and spread out large tasks and assessments.
Feedback feedback feedback.
Chat, ask about Ss wellbeing not just work.
#eLearningTopTips thought I'd start a little list, add if you like.
Keep it simple, keep it chunked.
Be mindful of accessibility. Think ability, accounts, devices and screen time
Model everything.
Make it multisensory, lots of video and audio, but again bitesize.
I think they are called easi speaks from TTS. They work like walkie talkies. Should be colour coded, tap the orange button on one random handset and it connects to the orange handset
So many Ss say that to me too. And I am staggered because alot of them have been forced to this because other adults knew no better, or didn't realise there was another way. #figureitout#helpyourlearners
It constantly amazes, and annoys, me that students are not supported in equitable access when using Technology. for instance why are lefties being forced to use a mouse right handed, when the fix is so simple? #lefties#accessibility#edtech and why am I the first to help them?
I`m a scientist deep down, thus these really appeal to me. The child in me giggles at all the bright colors and #explody stuff tee hee hee.... plus, "the chasm of ignorance" `nuff said
