Honestly, I’ll advise we all watch this video to the end. This short, less than 6-minute video explains these system design concepts in a very clean way.

Client-server architecture, load balancing, caching, database design, microservices, circuit breakers, database replication, sharding, trade-offs, security, observability, CI/CD, and fault tolerance.

I am always paying attention to everything.

There was a day, after a demo of an application they were pushing toward MVP, the question came up: “Anyone got any contributions or highlights?”

Silence.

In my head, I was thinking, are you guys not seeing what I’m seeing?

Eventually, the CEO said, “Steve, anything? You always have something to say.”

I spoke up and highlighted a very poor user experience in the app, especially around the transactions page. And once I pointed it out, it made sense to everyone.

That entire day was redirected to the UI team to redesign the transactions flow, and the frontend team had to implement the changes.

I’m pretty sure they hated me that day 😂
