Pensando em Zaregoto e tendo umas epifanias.
É muito louco como o primeiro livro que o Isin lançou acabou instaurando uma inflexão estética que viria a orientar boa parte da ficção de detetive japonesa do século XXI
[“Jack the Poetical Private” Now Available]
The fourth installment in the S&M (Saikawa & Moe) series, “Jack the Poetical Private,” by Dr. MORI Hiroshi, has been released on Amazon and Lulu!
It usually takes several weeks for the book to become available on other eBook stores as well.
A long interview with the author, Dr. MORI Hiroshi, is also included at the end of the volume.
Among all of Dr. MORI’s works, the first five titles of the S&M series are my particular favorites. Until now, however, I had felt that “Jack the Poetical Private” left the faintest impression among them.
But rereading it through the ultimate form of close reading—translating it into English—I was once again astonished by the novel’s high level of perfection as a mystery.
In the interview at the end of the book, Dr. MORI himself also talks about how he felt a strong sense of accomplishment with “Jack the Poetical Private” as a mystery.
The S&M series has already gained many readers overseas, and with the completion of this English edition, I hope that “Jack the Poetical Private” will also be enjoyed by mystery fans around the world.
And now, an important announcement related to the future English translations of the S&M series.
In The BBB, a project to help authors expand into the English-speaking world, we have been selling eBooks worldwide using the system of the American eBook store Lulu. However, since the European Union changed its eBook-related laws last June, Lulu’s system has become extremely unstable.
As a result, from last year into this year, the English-language titles of The BBB—more than 150 works in total—have been completely deleted three separate times. Even now, most of them remain unavailable. Fortunately, however, the works by Dr. MORI Hiroshi are now close to being fully restored.
Regarding the English translation of the next volume, “Who Inside,” we plan to consult soon with Kodansha, which holds the rights, about a contract.
At present we are still in the midst of considerable confusion, as it is expected to take more than a year to restore all titles from The BBB. Because of this situation, the earliest we will likely be able to make an announcement regarding “The Adventures of God Detective Jesus Christ,” by Ryusui Seiryoin, will be late March or early April.
My sincere apologies to everyone who has been looking forward to it. I would be grateful if you could please allow us a little more time. Thank you for your understanding.
