A Foundation for the Future: AFP Inaugurates BAHAYANI Child Development Center
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) formally inaugurated the BAHAYANI Child Development Center (CDC) on June 9, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening the foundation of the AFP community for the future.
The ceremony was graced by First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos, together with AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo S Brawner Jr. and AFP Officersโ Ladies Club, Inc. (AFPOLCI) Chairperson Mrs. Melody Mariele Brawner. Also in attendance were AFP personnel, civilian human resources, and their dependents and family members, highlighting a shared commitment to family welfare and child development within the AFP community.
In his remarks, General Brawner commended the AFPOLCI for its key role in bringing the project to life. Recognized by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through the Quezon City Social Services Development Department (SSDD) and the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Council, the center reflects a collaborative effort to strengthen family support systems and invest in the future of the AFP community.
Through the BAHAYANI CDC, the AFP will provide holistic early childhood care and education in a safe and inclusive environment for eligible dependents of AFP personnel and civilian human resources.

AFP, Cignal Forge Historic Partnership to Champion Patriotism Through Media
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Cignal formally strengthened their partnership through a ceremonial signing held on June 8, here. The ceremony was led by AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo S Brawner Jr. and Cignal Chief Executive Officer Mr. Victorio V. Vargas.
The partnership formalizes Cignal as the AFPโs first media auxiliary company, supporting efforts to amplify stories of military service and sacrifice.The ceremony was followed by a special screening of Patriots, a documentary series that brings to life the courage, patriotism, and lived experiences of soldiers, drawing the Filipino public closer to the realities of military service.
The event also conferred the Gawad sa Kapayapaan Award on 2nd Lieutenant Mateo Guidicelli PA (RES) in recognition of his contributions to promoting patriotism, strengthening national unity, and raising public awareness of the AFPโs service and sacrifices. His work has helped deepen appreciation for the men and women who defend the nation and reinforced national pride.

ICYMI: The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) renewed their partnership through the signing of the revised Terms of Reference (ToR) on May 29, 2026, at Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City. The agreement reaffirms the two institutions' enduring commitment to promoting and upholding the principles of International Humanitarian Law (IHL).
The ceremony was presided over by MGEN Patricio Ruben P. Amata PA, Deputy Chief of Staff for Civil-Military Operations, J7, and Mr. Pierre-Yves Barrea, Head of Operations of the ICRC.
The revised ToR reflects the evolving security environment and the AFP's transition from a predominantly counterinsurgency-focused force to one increasingly oriented toward conventional defense operations. It also expands AFP-ICRC cooperation to include discussions on obligations under International Armed Conflict (IAC) and the integration of IHL principles into operational planning and military practice.

AFP Welcomes Strong Public Support for Joint Military Exercises in the West Philippine Sea
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) welcomed the results of the latest Tugon ng Masa (TNM) nationwide survey conducted by OCTA Research from March 19 to 25, 2026, which showed that 71 percent of adult Filipinos support joint military exercises in the West Philippine Sea (WPS) with allied and partner nations.
The survey showed consistently strong public support across major regions, including the National Capital Region (74%), Mindanao (73%), and both the Visayas (70%) and Luzon (70%). It also highlighted broad approval at the regional level, with particularly high support recorded in the island provinces of Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan (100%), South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and General Santos City (90%), and Western Visayas (87%).
The results reflect nationwide backing for cooperative defense activities such as the annual Balikatan exercises and regular joint patrols in the WPS, which contribute to improved maritime security. The AFP emphasized that this strong public confidence reinforces ongoing efforts to enhance interoperability, strengthen defense partnerships, and promote a secure and stable maritime environment in the West Philippine Sea.

AFP, USINDOPACOM Lead Multinational Effort to Boost Disaster Preparedness
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), in partnership with the United States Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM), formally opened Exercise Tempest Express 41-2026 during a ceremony held on June 3 at the Manila Marriott Hotel, Newport World Resorts in Pasay City.
Conducted under the Multinational Planning Augmentation Team (MPAT) Program, the exercise will run from June 3 to 11, and brings together representatives from 17 MPAT nations and 31 MPAT members, as well as humanitarian organizations and civilian agencies. The activity aims to strengthen disaster response planning, enhance interoperability, and improve coordination during humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations.
As a key member of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and the lead agency of the Search, Rescue, and Retrieval Cluster, the AFP continues to play a vital role in advancing a whole-of-government approach to disaster management.
The exercise underscores the AFP's commitment to building resilient partnerships and strengthening regional cooperation in humanitarian assistance and disaster response, ensuring participating nations are better prepared to respond collectively to complex emergencies and natural calamities.

Strengthening Leadership Across the Ranks, AFP and ISGL Sign MOA Addendum
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the International Graduate School of Leadership (IGSL) formalized the expansion of their long-standing educational partnership through the ceremonial signing of an Addendum to the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) held on June 3, here.
The signing ceremony was presided over by Lieutenant General Rommel P Roldan, Acting AFP Chief of Staff, and Dr. Great B. Mabuti, President of IGSL. The addendum strengthens the existing 2010 MOA for the Master of Arts in Transformational Leadership program, aimed at developing values-driven and effective leaders within the organization.
Under the expanded agreement, eligibility for the scholarship program will now extend beyond commissioned officers to include qualified Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) and Non-Uniformed Personnel (NUPs). The program provides a comprehensive package covering tuition, textbooks, on-campus accommodation, and a monthly stipend, and extends assistance to immediate family members, allowing eligible spouses to pursue a masterโs degree or on-campus studies.
The initiative underscores the AFPโs commitment to professional development and leadership excellence across all ranks, fostering a more capable, empowered, and future-ready force in support of its mission of service to the Filipino people.

AFP Welcomes Strong Public Support for Assertive West Philippine Sea Posture
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) expressed its gratitude to the Filipino people following the release of the latest Tugon ng Masa (TNM) nationwide survey conducted by OCTA Research from March 19 to 25, 2026, which found that 72 percent of adult Filipinos support a more assertive Philippine posture in the West Philippine Sea (WPS).
The findings further showed that majority of adult Filipinos are familiar with current developments in the WPS. Across major areas, familiarity was highest in the National Capital Region at 79 percent, while regional awareness peaked in MIMAROPA at 100 percent, followed by Western Visayas at 94 percent, Caraga at 88 percent, and CALABARZON at 82 percent.
Notably, the survey also revealed that expanded naval and troop presence ranks highest among public preferences, reflecting strong support for a three-pillar strategy anchored on territorial assertion, diplomacy, and AFP modernization which highlights a clear and enduring national consensus on safeguarding the countryโs maritime interests.

In a powerful display of patriotism, brotherhood, and gratitude, the 1st VeteRide 2026 successfully concluded on May 31, 2026 at the Lapu-Lapu Grandstand, Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City. Organized by the Pension and Gratuity Management Center (PGMC), AFP, the event gathered veterans, riders, military personnel, sponsors, and supporters from various riding communities in one united mission, to honor the sacrifices of the nationโs heroes whose courage and service helped preserve the countryโs freedom.
Gracing the occasion as Guest of Honor and Speaker was Senator Joseph Victor โJVโ G Ejercito, whose heartfelt message emphasized the nationโs continuing duty to remember and care for Filipino veterans and their families. Led by Commodore Luidegar C Casis PN, Chief, PGMC, AFP and Lead Organizer of the event, participants rode together toward the Libingan ng mga Bayani for the solemn wreath-laying ceremony. In silence and reverence, riders and veterans stood side by side to honor the fallen heroes of the nation, a deeply moving moment that reminded everyone that the freedoms enjoyed today were paid for through sacrifice, courage, and selfless service.
The program proper featured the ceremonial pinning of the HEROES Pin, recognition of sponsors and partners, and a remarkable Silent Drill Presentation by the Philippine Marine Corps Silent Drill Team. Yet beyond the ceremonies and roaring engines, the true heart of VeteRide 2026 was found in the smiles of the veterans, the handshakes between generations, and the shared sense of respect and gratitude felt throughout the event. More than just a motorcycle ride, VeteRide 2026 became a heartfelt tribute to the enduring legacy of Filipino veterans, proving that while time may pass, the nation will never forget its heroes.
