Putting new environmental data technology in the hands of land management and nature conservation practitioners. NEYEDC's @HeritageFundNor funded project.
The first day of the 2024 @citnatchallenge is in full swing and we've almost reached 800 observations of 315 species 🥳 thank you to everyone recording so far! The NEYEDC team are out and about too! 📸 join in by making records in Hull until 29/04! https://t.co/zOcXPtlbkH
The @_NFBR conference is always interesting and informative, with this year's theme going to the 'next level' of recording. Themes include extreme geography and novel technology, some of which @TeamNEYEDC used during out NatureHack project.
NEYEDC are recruiting two Ecological Data Officers to join our small and supportive team in delivering our aim of understanding the natural world through data gathering and analysis. Find out more here: https://t.co/2B35SCOTe5 #EnvironmentJobs#Yorkshire

Great to have @decidenature The Datasets Dream visiting York over the next few days. @TeamNEYEDC were pleased to be involved in this innovative project to target where we record butterflies and moths across Yorkshire.
"What happens when we turn nature into digital data?" - Dr Michael Pocock, @UK_CEH
🦋@StNicksFields is hosting an audio-visual art piece that asks residents to think about the declining populations of the UK's butterflies and moths on Thursday.
What do you get if you mix a foggy autumn day in the @northyorkmoors and an attempt at drone imaging? ...not a lot! 🌫️ Patience and perseverance needed to collect #drone data this week at Silton, Osmotherley, but we got there in the end!
We were pleased to complete some work recently for @WoldEcology at Dawnay Estates, as part of a #biodiversity audit in @northyorkmoors. Digitising habitat field survey maps to #UKHab standard supports the Defra Biodiversity Metric calculation for each 1km square 🖱️
Lovely to meet our grassland fungi enthusiasts volunteering to help identify fungi-rich grassland as part of our #YorkshireWaxcaps project. Great training sessions at Duncombe Park & Malham Tarn
NEYEDC's waxcap project is another NatureHack legacy project, encouraging innovative ways to record wildlife. We need casual recorders to use our Yorkshire version of Plantlife's WaxcApp when out and about spotting fungi-rich grassland this autumn. #YorkshireWaxcaps
It's #UkFungusDay@ukfungusday this weekend which coincides perfectly with the launch of our #YorkshireWaxcaps project last night! Thank you to all who attended. More info here: https://t.co/NqiIteJX37 Will you be getting out and recording some waxcaps this weekend? 🍄
More drone flying yesterday - this time just outside our patch and into Northumberland to help our student placement volunteer @Rob_Bailey_geo collect baseline data for his dissertation at Thinhope Burn #dronesurvey
@TeamNEYEDC continue to be involved in championing new technologies and how they can be used in ecology and the natural world. We can then role out these technologies to the local groups we work with.
A great day in Doncaster this week on a field recording workshop with @jezrileyfrench organised by @ArtBomb_UK, working in the space where art and ecology meet. Particularly enjoyed plumbing the depths of the Don with a hydrophone!
We have been involved with @DNCreates@ArtBomb_UK as a direct result of the @HeritageFundUK NatureHack project. Great opportunity to showcase some of the alternative work @TeamNEYEDC do using new ecological technologies with those who wouldn't otherwise get to experience them!
NEYEDC's Director, Simon, has been getting out and about recently as part of the #DECIDEMoths@decidenature project. An opportunity to join with folks from @DNCreates@ArtBomb_UK was the perfect setting for some experimental overnight moth trapping: https://t.co/v2ci9BTJqv 🌛
@TeamNEYEDC have been preparing their most recent images of Three Hagges Woodmeadow @woodmeadowtrust ready for the Yorkshire Nature Fair on Sunday - hope to see many of you there!
#dronesurvey
It was back to school on Friday for Simon, Mark & Clare to update our drone qualifications to meet the new CAA standards with Jim from @droneacademyuk Keeping our qualifications up to date allows us to continue the great work we do with partner organisations #dronesurvey
We picked another lovely day to head out with @woodmeadowtrust to complete a habitat #dronesurvey of the wonderful Three Hagges Woodmeadow in all its summer glory. @TeamNEYEDC are looking forward to returning on 3rd July for the very first #yorkshirenaturefair

It was great to get out last week to @highbatts completing our first drone survey of the year ☀️ We've flown at this site annually for the past 4 years, helping inform its management & for monitoring as part of the 'In at the Start' project: https://t.co/YwP4iKVaqh
