At @TeamPratilipi we have tried to codify the kind of people we want to attract (and not) and the kind of place / culture we want to be and make it public.

Indians are watching all sorts of sordid microdramas and Pratilipi has the one thing most of these drama platforms want: stories. Millions of them.
Pratilipi is in the right place at the right time. But will it translate into revenue? @MorningContext@goyalhiral
Pratilipi is betting on microdramas with its vast story library. The real challenge is finding a breakout hit.

‘People are lining up outside Pratilipi’s office for content to make microdramas.”
As platforms scale up the ultra short video offering, they are realising it is extremely tough to generate content quickly and at scale.

Korea isn't just about Korean Mythology, neither is Japan, China or US. Nor would it be for India. Mythology is of-course an easy and obvious play but the Indian universe is much, much bigger and the game is already afoot, just a matter of time. <2>
@TeamPratilipi
Good essay; though I think it focuses a bit too much on what has happened (including mythology) vs what is happening and can happen (including stories that we can't even imagine, across formats and themes that we can't even imagine).

Thanks @rajeshsawhney sir, but really not a turnaround at all.
Same team, same vision, same thesis, same values, same refusal to do "median" things.
Just that we don't need to worry about day to day survival, so back to business as usual after a detour.

Turnaround of @TeamPratilipi is legendary!!
@ThEbmr is engineering one of the greatest turnaround of all time in the Indian Startup Folklore.
As an investor @gsf_fund and I are delighted to see the leapfrog in revenues.
Pratilipi to end FY27 at Rs 400 crore revenue driven by literature, Westland
The company's core literature platform hosts more than 7.2 lakh writers across 12 Indian languages and serves over 1.8 million daily active readers, creating a sizeable base for monetisation.

Pratilipi, the Indian-language digital storytelling platform, is estimated to clock nearly Rs 400 crore in revenue in financial year 2027 (FY27), riding on the growth of its core online literature business and the expanding contribution from publishing arm Westland Books, according to data reviewed by Moneycontrol.
The projected milestone comes after the company more than doubled its topline in the past year. Pratilipi's revenue rose to Rs 188 crore in FY26, up from Rs 82.4 crore in FY25, underscoring the growing appetite for regional-language content across formats ranging from serialized fiction to traditional books.
At one point, Pratilipi even asked its employees to look out for jobs as the company struggled to scale in 2024
Two businesses are expected to drive the next phase of growth: Pratilipi's flagship online literature platform and Westland Books, the publishing house it acquired from Amazon in 2022. The Bengaluru-based startup had brought Westland's team and operations under its fold in April that year, marking its entry into traditional publishing
