One of our program’s pioneers came back today to talk with Mrs. Sickman’s 7th grade exploratory class about overcoming obstacles. Thanks for being awesome Katie! #StillMakingADifference@kretter81
Our student leadership team came in on their day off today to show a couple members of the Salvation Army & accept their generous donation. We also went through the clothing side of our closet & installed our new shelving! We’re still organizing, but it is looking so much better!
Thank you to the ladies of Trinity United Methodist Church for inviting us to come talk with them about the importance of our student food pantry program. #makingadifference
We received the final installment of $967.45 from the grant that Jodi Hammond-Milleson wrote us in! Thank you to Ryan Lindahl, Lecturing Knight, for presenting it to us & asking for a tour. Glad to show you around. Thanks to the Elks & all their members for their support!
This group of Project RISE leaders set the record for amount of food packed in a shift. 7 full pallets. The old record was 6. That equals 1,224 food bags packed! #makeadifference
We are thankful we get to be @ school, we are thankful we get to be leaders, & we are thankful we get to serve our community. Some of student leaders w/ our Student Food Pantry program packed & delivered food to a few of our school families to get them thru Thanksgiving break.
We got our first load of food from the Northeast Iowa Food Bank today!
Since school started in August, 456.97 lbs of food has been used by our Charles City Comet families.
Please keep donating to our program by utilizing our drop boxes around town!
2. We were also selected as a recipient of a $750 grant from IAAE so that we can continue to provide enhanced opportunities for students thru our closet/student food pantry program. Thank you to the board of the IAAE for recognizing the difference our student leaders are making.
We got 2 huge pieces of news today!!
1. We want to give a huge shout out to Mr. Dean. He was elected President of the Iowa Association of Alternative Educators. No one cares more about students than Mr. Dean. Congrats from Project RISE & the entire Success Center Family!!!
Awesome story by KAAL today about what our program’s student leaders are doing to improve our culture and climate by fighting hunger at the middle school and high school. #Leaders https://t.co/TwQ5Mgj8zb
