🍋+📄+📮= ambitious action on the global #PlasticsTreaty
The 64 countries in the High Ambition Coalition at the plastics treaty talks have lost their voices and are failing to speak up together.
Help them clear their throat; send them a remedy 👇

Due to some changes at Tearfund, we’re changing our advocacy communications. That means this account is shutting down.
Head to @Tearfund or @RenewOurWorld_ to continue to hear from Tearfund and Christians around the world fighting for justice.
Thank you for following ❤️
As we look ahead to the final round of #PlasticsTreaty negotiations, please continue to pray that we can continue to influence the process to see solutions to the impacts of plastic pollution on those living in poverty.
Due to some changes at Tearfund, we're changing how our campaigning works. Sadly, that means we're stopping the public facing side of the #RubbishCampaign early.

It's just over a week since the end of the fourth round of global #PlasticsTreaty negotiations wrapped up in Ottawa, Canada.
Listen to a few thoughts on how it went 👇
'While the waste collection and bins being installed in El Rincón will make a big difference to this community, there are hundreds of thousands more communities like this.' Miriam Moreno, Tearfund’s environmental and economic sustainability manager
The latest round of talks on a new global treaty to limit #plasticpollution have come to an end in Ottawa. Great that a brilliant team from @TearfundAct were there to push for maximum reduction in #plasticwaste There is a good summary of the outcomes here https://t.co/LHBr74rEEM
With the fourth round of #PlasticsTreaty talks drawing to a close, we handed your signatures in to the UK delegation along with a book of global campaign photos and some amazing letters from UK school children.
We're urging the UK to keep speaking up for an ambitious treaty.
Check out this op-ed from Malawian ecologist and @Tearfund activist Dr Tiwonge Mzumara-Gawa in @ContextNewsroom from @thomsonreuters.

🚨PLASTIC TREATY NOW!🗑️
The fourth round of #PlasticsTreaty talks are entering their final day in Ottawa, Canada.
It’s vital that negotiators make swift progress if we’re to see a world-changing treaty on #PlasticPollution by the end of 2024.

People living in poverty are the most affected by the impacts of #PlasticPollution, from toxic fumes from open burning to increased flood risk from plastic blocked waterways.
A successful plastics treaty must tackle these impacts rather than bending to industry lobbyists.
🚨BREAKING
Representatives from the fossil fuel and chemical industries outnumber delegates from low-income countries 2:1 at the fourth round of #PlasticsTreaty talks.
Analysis from @ciel_tweets and others revealed 196 petrochem lobbyists are registered for this week’s talks.🧵
📢 NEW: 196 fossil fuel and chemical industry lobbyists have registered to participate for the critical #INC4#PlasticsTreaty talks in Ottawa.
That’s more participants than the entire EU delegation, scientists, and Indigenous Peoples.
The number at the last round of negotiations was already high but we’ve seen a 37% increase this time around.
Negotiators must not allow themselves to be swayed by the lobbying of representatives from industries that directly profit from the #PlasticsCrisis.
No time to waste🗑️
This week Tearfund staff and activists are at the fourth round of #PlasticsTreaty talks in Ottawa. Plastic waste has a devastating impact on people living in poverty.
