The race has officially commenced for the first batch of athletes participating in the 99th Comrades Marathon.

More than 21 000 runners have qualified and registered to take part in this iconic event, with 515 #SAPS members proudly joining the field as they begin their journey from Durban to Pietermaritzburg.

Among the thousands of runners lining up at the start are police officers from across South Africa who have spent months preparing for this moment while continuing to serve and protect their communities.

Today, they swap their uniforms for running shoes, carrying with them the same discipline and determination that define their daily commitment to the fight against crime.

As the road unfolds ahead, Team SAPS joins thousands of athletes in taking on one of the world’s greatest endurance challenges.
