Fun fact. Apple did this to me in 2019 over a messages 0-click bug. So I did some magic and got myself added to their daily bug bounty standup call, which was just a FaceTime group call. I submitted another vuln with a screenshot of their call and got a threatening letter.

7 out of 10 persons I meet on the road who doesn't stay on their lane when I'm running are ladies, started observing it more, they've really poor spatial awareness.

And in all 3 cases, I notice an overarching deficiency: Poor spatial awareness.

This is why when she sleeps, no matter how big the bed is, she rarely maintains her section of it. Her below average proprioception means she often unwittingly rolls towards yours, leaving large portions of the mattress unoccupied.

Clumsy. Disorderly. Chaotic

It is also partly why she crosses roads with unnecessary urgency, no matter how far away the closest oncoming car is. She has a constrained ability to understand her position relative to objects, and thus, struggles to accurately estimate their distance and speed. Recognising this limitation, she errs on the side of haste and runs across like the ghosts of her aborted kids are after her.

And lastly, it is also why she changes lanes with little to no warning, even at high speeds, oblivious to the correct position of other cars relative to hers. Lane switches are poorly telegraphed because she lacks the cognitive depth to fully consider the surrounding field of movement before maneuvering.

This is why experienced drivers can often tell whether it is a woman behind the wheels of a car just by observing how it moves

TIL that Škoda made a bicycle bell that can cut through ANC headphones.

Most ANC systems use adaptive filtering (like LMS) at a very basic level, it models the incoming noise and generate an anti-phase signal to cancel it. Works best for steady and predictable sounds.

Škoda's research found that around 750 - 780Hz ANC struggles a lot so they made their bell to target this particular frequency

they added irregular, transient dual tones that are hard to model in real time

this comes from a dual-resonator design : one tuned to ~750-780 Hz (ANC weak spot) using a cantilever tine, and another at higher frequencies (~2 KHz+) like a normal bell, so it’s not a single clean tone

So instead of being louder, it’s just… harder to cancel.

Pretty neat example of exploiting system limitations with pure analog design.

I understand your central point but it's not the main point why they do this, it boils down to the fact that they're not cash liquid to enable such charity, you might be worth $100M but your liquid cash at hand is 1M, would you still donate more than 10% of that when there are

Growing up I often wondered why wealthy celebs made relatively ‘meager donations’, you see stuff like “Drake donates $100k”, “Wayne donates $75k” & I’m like “you’re worth hundreds of Ms, why just 50k?”

It's one of the reasons why I advocate for financial literacy across all ages, if your extended family is more literate financially, they'd know not to constantly bother you for money cause you're worth $100M online.
