$Anthropic logged net loss of over $80 billion in first half of 2026 👀
They didn't actually "lose" 80 billion dollars. 72 billion of that 80 is something called a change in fair value of convertible notes.
A convertible note is a way of financing a company, more commonly used in startups. It involves the company taking on debt in exchange for a convertible note, which, can either be paid back for the cash value of the debt plus interest, or, as the name suggests, can be converted for equity.
For example, if I have a lemonade stand worth 100 dollars and I borrow $1 in exchange for 1% of my lemonade stand. The investor's claim to equity is worth $1. Now in a year if my stand is now worth $300, the investor can either ask for his $1 back plus interest, or he can convert that into equity and ask for his 1%. Now since at the time of financing his share was worth $1 and now it is worth $3, it's technically a $2 loss for me (the lemonade stand) even though I didn't actually lose money. The reason this system is common among startups is that it mitigates risk for the investor: if the company does good, they get equity. If it does bad and their equity is worth less than whatever they invested, they get the cash back.
This 80 billion dollar loss is not actually an 80 billion dollar loss. Nowhere close. Their operating loss was 8 billion - still high but not 80. And the IRS agrees: change in fair value of convertible notes is not a deductible loss for tax purposes because you didn't actually lose money.

eMudhra Security Breach Explained in Simple Terms 🔐
Here's what actually happened:
In April 2025, eMudhra, Indian Certificate Authority generated 8 intermediate certificates with very weak private keys. One of them was a single digit "4" lol. Others were like 56, 115, etc
Anyone could recover these keys in under a second and create fake HTTPS certificates for any website that browsers would trust.
One researcher reported this on 17 October 2026. Google, Mozilla, Apple, Microsoft has blocked the bad certificates within hours. This came to limelight to everyone today morning.
eMudhra is licensed by India's CCA/MeitY and works on government projects too.
What you should do:
🔹Update your browser and operating system right now (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari, Windows, Android, iOS, etc as applicable)
🔹 On Linux, update your `ca-certificates` package
🔹If you run a website that uses an eMudhra/emSign certificate, get a new certificate from another CA as soon as possible
Most regular users are already protected once their browser is updated.
☄️ A simple explanation for Non-Tech people:
Basically emudhra gave some numbers as secrets to the internet. The numbers act as a security numbers. For example think of it like this, you are trying to enter a club and bouncer asks you for the secret number to enter the club. You ask the bouncer if the number is between 1 to 5. Bouncer says yes and you start guessing the numbers one by one. Since the set of numbers that you have to guess from is quite small, it's easier to guess. Now anyone can say "hey! I know the secret number and I own this club. Now everybody pay their money to me". This explanation is not entirely accurate but you get the point.
What can you do? Nothing. Browsers and tool makers have released a patch with utmost urgency. Just update everything that you have on your devices and you are good from now on. But what’s done is done so we don't know what got stolen from the club before we found out the numbers to guess is too small where it should be from 1 to 100 ton.

Should India abolish LTCG tax on equities?
We tax long-term gains at 12.5% above ₹1.25L. Salaried people pay income tax on salary, then tax again on the gains from investing, what’s left?
Supporters argue that scrapping LTCG tax would encourage more Indians to invest in equities.
But would removing this tax actually boost retail participation, or would it have little impact on how people invest?
What's your take? 👇

More Indian brokers are now making US stocks accessible! 🇺🇸
I'm sharing a few things I've learned from tracking and investing in US markets.
🔹US stocks don't have the same fixed daily upper and lower circuits as Indian stocks. I've seen stocks fall 30% in a day and others rally over 100%. Trading halts exist, but volatility can be extreme!
🔹Under RBI’s LRS rules, resident Indians cannot trade US F&O, use margin funding, or trade on leverage. Every trade must be a 100% cash-funded delivery purchase.
🔹One thing I've noticed is that some strong breakouts in US stocks sustain well, especially when backed by earnings growth, AI demand or strong business fundamentals.
But not every breakout works. Always manage your risk.
🔹The US market has seen a strong AI-driven rally over the past few months.
Great companies can still be poor investments if you buy them at excessive valuations. Don't confuse a good business with a good entry price.
🔹You don't need thousands of dollars to own expensive stocks like Nvidia or Amazon.
Eligible stocks can be bought fractionally, allowing you to invest a specific dollar amount instead of buying a whole share.
🔹Your returns depend on both the stock price and the USD-INR exchange rate.
A stronger dollar can boost your returns in rupees, while a weaker dollar can reduce them.
🔹US markets trade until 1:30 AM IST during daylight saving time and 2:30 AM during standard time.
Also, understand the tax rules, foreign remittance charges and reporting requirements before investing ✅
My final take:
US markets offer excellent opportunities to diversify beyond India, but don't invest just because a stock is trending or everyone is talking about AI.
Do your research, respect valuations and invest with a plan.
Happy investing! 🚀🇺🇸
