Spartanburg sheriff Chuck Wright pleaded guilty to federal charges for embezzling $28k from his office's benevolent fund, stealing oxycodone pills from a drug give back.
He's the 16th SC sheriff to be charged since 2010. For context, there are 46 counties

@henrymcmaster has declined to pardon double murderer Stephen Stanko. We expect to hear word of his execution shortly.
Stanko chose to die by lethal injection after his lawyers allege the last execution by firing squad was botched.

@henrymcmaster has denied clemency for Mikal Madi. He was convicted of murdering a SC cop during a multi-state crime spree when he also killed a gas station attendant. He’s the second person in SC to choose to die by firing squad

SC just scheduled its 3rd execution of the year.
Meanwhile, an autopsy report confirms that 2 people who received the lethal injection died w lungs full of fluid.
It raises concerns that the pentobarbital used during executions causes extreme suffering.

We are expecting word any minute now that South Carolina has executed the first person using the firing squad.

Sigmon is scheduled to be executed today at 6 p.m. for the murders of his ex-girlfriend’s parents. He was sentenced to death in 2002 and, at 67, would be the oldest person executed in SC history

The US Supreme Court has declined to stop #BradSigmon’s execution by firing squad. If it goes ahead it will be the first in SC AND only the 4th time in US since 1976.
The last hope is clemency from @henrymcmaster but he has never issued a clemency.
