In Juneau, a pro-education majority voted to override Dunleavy’s attempt to chip away at our schools. Education is critical in maintaining a thriving economy, and we recognized that. We need to keep a pro-education majority and you can help!

AK schools have been expected to adapt to a shrinking budget for the past decade. I’ll be supporting school funding when the state legislature convenes for an emergency session next month.

I will be enthusiastically voting to overturn this education veto. If you’re in my district, I’ve got you. If you’re not in my district, I urge you to call your state legislators and tell them you support education. Our schools need us, and you bet I’m going to show up.

Governor Dunleavy has called a special legislative session that will begin at the end of this week. He has levied an additional education funding veto and the purpose of this special session will, in part, is to force a vote to overturn that education veto. He expects it to fail.

Dunleavy then issued further vetoes, lowering the amount to $500.

That’s about 27% of what’s needed to inflation-proof our schools.

Electing a majority of education advocates meant legislators were able to land a small bump to the BSA. But education funding must be higher for the sake of our students, and for the communities that will employ and be led by future graduates.
