One thing that’s become absolutely clear:
The Trump administration isn’t isolationist. It meddles on behalf of authoritarians all over the world.
Or to put it another way:
The Trump administration isn’t America First. It’s Authoritarianism First.
@JDVance Yes, let's have peace, but to bow to Russia is not the way. They started this , and the World needs to stop this. This is one man's ego to expand his empire. It will not stop with Ukraine. Russia is not our friend.
@Liz_Cheney@realDonaldTrump@JDVance Wow, that is a very profound statement. I don't believe they understand what is really at stake. If only they who blindly follow this man looked back at history, they would see what is coming.
@HalfwayPost Gee what a shock. Wait until the rest of the people who voted for him realize they are getting screwed. The only people he cares about are the ones who can get him what he wants.
There are simple explanations for all these billionaires who once shunned Trump but are now back in his camp.
Deals.
Elon Musk called him too old and unfit to lead, but now is his biggest surrogate.
Deal: unlimited government subsidies, tax breaks, deregulation and the DOJ dropping all investigations into Elon's criminal foreign allegiances.
Rupert Murdock called Trump unsuited for the presidency after J6, but endorsed him via the NY Post this week.
Deal: the Fox News propaganda machine stays protected and profitable.
Similar deals struck with the Adelsons, Thiels and Crows of this world.
The list of Faustian pacts goes on and on.
All these deals are good for them, but they all come at your expense.
In 11 days, you get to decide who your government should work for.
You or them.
@KeneAkers There seems to be something very odd about that "assassination attempt" you don't hear anything about the victims. Prior to the shots being fired, he keeped looking in that direction.
@murphymike This has been this way his whole life. He is living in a reality that he has created. This is why he can't admit defeat. It does not fit his personal reality.
@kylenabecker @AGAndrewBailey Trump was and is allowed to talk about his policy for the future direction of the country. He could talk about Biden. What he could not do is trash and intimidate the witnesses and the judge and prosecutor. So his First Amendment rights were not taken away from him.
@DanRather Trump and his followers will only accept the results if he wins. He did not win the popular vote in 2016 but did win the electoral votes to become President. He lost both in 2020. He has always said if he does not win, there is voter fraud. He just refuses to accept defeat.
Excerpt from David Hume Kennerly’s resignation letter to the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation:
“A key reason Liz's nomination was turned down was your agita about what might happen if the former president is reelected. Some of you raised the specter of being attacked by the Internal Revenue Service and losing the foundation's tax-exempt status as retribution for selecting Liz for the award. The historical irony was completely lost on you. Gerald Ford became president, in part, because Richard Nixon had ordered the development of an enemies list and demanded his underlings use the IRS against those listed. That's exactly what the executive committee fears will happen if there's a second coming of Donald Trump. Did LT Gerald Ford meet the enemy head-on because he thought he wouldn't get killed? No. He did it despite that possibility. This executive committee, on the other hand, bolted before any shots were fired. You aren't alone.
“Many foundations, organizations, corporations, and other entities are caught up in this tidal wave of timidity and fear that's sweeping this country. I mistakenly thought we were better than that. This is the kind of acquiescent behavior that leads to authoritarianism. President Ford most likely would have come out even tougher and said that it leads directly to fascism.
“Those of you who rejected Liz join many ‘good Republicans’ now aiding and abetting our 45th president by ignoring the genuine menace he presents to our country. America is fortunate to have Liz Cheney still out there on the front lines of freedom vigorously defending our Constitution and democratic way of life. But you don't have her back. In failing to honor Liz's courage, resolve, and integrity, you are retreating and hunkering down behind a wall of silence. Martin Luther King said, ‘In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.’”
