Trying to find the right words today is not easy.
You were a hell of a hockey player but it’s the person Johnny that always is going to be with me, one of my closest friends, it didn’t matter if we hadn’t spoken in a day or a week we always knew where we had each other!
There hasn’t been a dry eye in the Andersson house today we all love you Johnny.
Looking back at this picture with a smile and a tear, we were very hungover laughing about this the next morning…

I’m having a really hard time wrapping my head around what happened to Johnny and Matty.

I can’t begin to imagine what the Gaudreau family must be going through.

We watched Johnny grow up, as a person and as a player, here in Calgary.

We got to know him and his wonderful family.

From a kid fresh out of college who loved to play hockey and eat Skittles, to an NHL superstar on the ice and a husband and father off the ice.

While Johnny was front-and-centre for so many memorable moments with the #Flames, there is one that stands out for me.

After scoring the franchise’s biggest goal since 2004, the overtime-winner in Game 7 versus the Stars to set-up the first Battle of Alberta in the Stanley Cup Playoffs in more than three decades, with 19,289 fans on their feet and chanting his name, Johnny skated off the ice, walked down the tunnel towards the dressing room and stepped right into the arms of his teammate and friend Sean Monahan.

A goal, a smile and a hug that are on repeat in my mind.

It was an honour, a privilege and a thrill to have an opportunity to call Johnny’s games for eight seasons.

I can’t believe he’s gone.
