“I always carry a rosary with me. When I feel that I am going through a difficult time I put my hand in my pocket, I cling to it and then everything is easier.”
- Zlatko Dalić, head coach of the Croatia national football team
This is the way! Christ is Lord!
Last night at UFC 326, Charles “Do Bronx” Oliveira defeated Max “Blessed” Holloway by unanimous decision over 5 rounds in one of the most anticipated fights of the year.
The first thing Oliveira posted on X after the fight: “Obrigado Jesus, só vamos. Thank you Jesus, let’s go.”
This is nothing new for Oliveira. Throughout his entire UFC career, win or lose, he always thanks Jesus Christ. He is one of the most openly Christian athletes in the UFC.
What makes this fight special is that both men share the same faith. Max Holloway, known as “Blessed,” is a devout Christian from Hawaii. He has the word “Jesus” tattooed across his chest and Psalm 144 tattooed on his arm: “Blessed be the Lord my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight.” His nickname is not just a brand. It is a statement of faith.
After the final bell, the two men embraced and paid their respects to each other.
