No BS Career Strategy: One underrated problem solving strategy that many professionals like software developers haven't yet realized.
It's very simple: LEARN TO TEMPORARILY CHANGE LOCATION when facing a challenge.
If you've been struggling with something in your room, go to the parlour.
If you've been struggling with something in your house, go and lodge in a hotel.
At a point, the whole state or country needs to be vacated sef. Okay this one is hyperbole but you get the point.
Persistence shouldn't include your location. You're not a tree, move!
I would like to see data on how Nigeria’s economic situation has affected book reading among young people. I’m privileged enough to afford books but every now and then I still scream, “hay god!” at the prices. What does this mean for poorer Nigerians esp when public libraries are underfunded or practically nonexistent?
Books in Nigeria are unaffordably expensive, but the real issue lies at feet of the government.
The few public libraries we have are underfunded, outdated, & barely functional.
There's little anyone can do to fix this.
I like to read. It’s natural. Many random wandering just reading a report, an analysis, or just a sojourn on something entirely new has led me to many discoveries, especially in the capital markets.
Build your habit around your strengths.
She's sooo richhhh.
The last time I went to a bookstore to buy "Powerless by Lauren Roberts" i was told it's "25'000".
As howw😭???
I'll stick to my "oceanofpdf" for now. 😔
I'm temporarily coming out of hiatus to write this post:
If you, as a designer or software engineer, were thinking about creating a business/agency to circumvent PIT so you can be eligible for 0% CIT come Jan 2026,
I'm very sorry, but it won't work for you.
Here's why: 🧵
30k doesn’t even cover transport to get to work in this economy, let alone feeding yourself for the month.
Meanwhile, some people live lifestyles that cost millions, yet they pay their staff just peanuts.
When the people helping you run your business or household cannot survive on their wages, the system is built on exploitation. Wealth and success should not come at the expense of human dignity.
Completely agree with this.
I am quick to buy a book but also super quick to dump it if it feels verbose, boring and teaches me nothing.
I also only read sections that interest me.
I wouldn't be reading a book cover to cover except it justifies the time I will be spending on it.
Except for maybe Evercare, Reddington, and a very few others, it is very difficult to point at private hospitals who have more than 100-bed capacity. What we see is a plethora of small, privately owned hospitals.
How then do you convince investors to put money in this sector? Also, without scale, how can doctors and other medical professionals ever get paid well?
To be clear, healthcare is essential (because the demand is inelastic), however the business in Nigeria suffers from a "missing middle". There are two extreme ends.
1. No one is coming to save you!
2. People will rely on you more, so budget for everything.
3. Build safety nets.
4. Have a number! One that allows you to give up.
5. Focus on being with assets! Leave liabilities alone, regardless of their appearance.
6. Take care of your mental health.
