Today, on the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking - 2026, I had the honour of inaugurating the Anti-Drug Awareness Week organised by the Hyderabad Police Commissionerate at the ICCC, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad.
The fight against drugs is not just a police priority it is a societal responsibility. I want to be very clear, the deadline is now. I have asked every officer, from Home Guard level to DGP, to remain committed to this fight so that our own children do not fall prey to it.
What was once a transit point for drug trafficking has now become a consumption zone. Post-COVID, drug consumption has risen in both urban and rural areas. Our children are being targeted traffickers are going as far as mixing narcotics in chocolates and biscuits to hook young minds. This is nothing short of an anti-national activity.
This is more dangerous than terrorism or Naxalism today and we must treat it with the same urgency. If there is no demand, there will be no supply. Reducing demand is our collective responsibility.
I took an oath today along with my officers and the students present eradicating drugs is our priority, and EAGLE Force is in full action. We are working in close coordination with the School Education Department, DRI, Enforcement Directorate, and Customs to tackle this at every level.
The Education Department has been asked to establish Anti-Drug Safety Clubs in every educational institution. Schools that fail to comply will risk losing their recognition.
I urge every parent to monitor their children closely, and appeal to families and society to help rehabilitate addicts through de-addiction centres. Keeping our youth away from drugs is the foundation for a golden future of our nation.
Together, we will build a drug-free Telangana.

Spoke today at the Times Network India Health Summit 2026, on "Resilient Leaders - Balancing Elite Physical Fitness and Agility in High-Stress Roles."
Policing demands unpredictable hours and constant pressure, fitness often takes a backseat after recruitment. My message to every officer is to give at least one hour a day to your physical and mental health. It's not only about looking smart in uniform, it's about staying healthy enough that even your belt hole doesn't change over the next three decades.
Cricket shaped my discipline, I played at the junior and senior state levels and sport taught me leadership, teamwork, and mental toughness that carried into policing. long years in Naxal-affected Nizamabad, Warangal, and Adilabad reinforced that composure under pressure matters as much as fitness.
My own routine - cricket, tennis, golf , yoga, stretching , and lots of weight training and cutting back on the 4 whites -sugar, salt, rice, and maida. With discipline and time management, fitness is possible through even the most busiest and toughest career.
Physical strength, mental resilience, self-discipline are non-negotiables for high-stress professions

In 2015, when I was CP - Cyberabad, we ran a pilot that made Cyberabad the passport verification record-holder in India.
That conviction that technology can transform citizen services never left.
Today, that same vision has scaled into VeriFast, powering 8.67 lakh verifications across Telangana, and earning us a 7th national award from the Ministry of External Affairs.
Proud of how far we've come. And more determined than ever to keep going.

Following recent monsoon-induced disruptions across Cyberabad, a deeper analysis revealed that the Irrigation Department which controls inflows, outflows, and sluice gates of all lakes is a critical stakeholder in flood management.
On the initiative of Government Advisor Shri Sudarshan Reddy garu an emergency coordination meeting was convened and officials from Police, Traffic, GHMC, Irrigation, HYDRAA, and Municipal departments followed by a joint inspection of key waterlogging points across the region. I joined in too to add focus to this area troubling citizens.
Special engineering teams have been constituted to conduct field inspections at Malkam Cheruvu, Khajaguda Lake, Miyapur, Biodiversity Junction, Kondapur, and other flood-prone locations to assess drainage issues and recommend both immediate and long-term solutions.
Flood and traffic management requires seamless inter-departmental coordination. For Police, the SOP is clear remain on ground, identify alternate routes, monitor flood-prone areas, and ensure swift interventions.

With heavy rains affecting Hyderabad and several parts of Telangana, I visited the rain-hit areas of Malkampet Cheruvu, Tolichowki, and the Botanical Gardens nala to assess the situation firsthand and review the response on the ground.
Along with Cyberabad CP Shri Ramesh, IPS, and Cyberabad Municipal Commissioner Smt. Srujana, I reviewed the measures being taken to address waterlogging and traffic disruptions. At the Botanical Gardens nala, which witnessed significant waterlogging last year, I inspected the ongoing mitigation measures, including the widening of the vent and the removal of a section of the wall to facilitate smoother water flow.
Police officers have been directed to remain on high alert, ensure smooth traffic movement, assist citizens in need, and maintain close coordination with civic and disaster management agencies. All field units across the state have been instructed to stay prepared for any rain-related emergencies.
During challenging weather conditions, timely response and public safety remain our highest priorities. I urge citizens to exercise caution, avoid waterlogged areas, and follow official advisories.
Telangana Police stands committed to ensuring public safety and providing timely assistance during the ongoing monsoon season.

Today, I conducted a comprehensive review of the Police Officers' Mess, Masab Tank one of our most cherished welfare institutions, serving the police fraternity for over 65 years.
Spread across 2.01 acres, the Mess is more than just a residential facility. It is a space that nurtures bonding, discipline, and esprit de corps among officers.
During the inspection, I reviewed the rooms, function halls, gymnasium, swimming pool, kitchen, and areas currently under construction and issued clear directives for modernisation and upkeep.
- Unused rooms to be repurposed as meeting rooms
- Finishing, fixtures, and presentation to be prioritised
- Parking area to be expanded and organised
- Every corner to be transformed into a well-maintained, presentable space
- An HRNS mechanism to be established for regular monitoring and maintenance
With focused attention and consistent upkeep, the Police Officers' Mess holds the potential to become a premier institutional landmark one that every officer takes pride in.
Our people deserve the best. And we will deliver nothing less.
In this review meeting ACB Director Avinash Mohanty, DCP Bhanumurthy and Senior police officers and members of the Officers’ Mess Committee were present during the review.
