And Covid,
I want a soft life. I want ease. I want relaxation. I do not want to hustle. I do not want to grind. Grinding wears you down to brittle nothingness. I do not want to work my life away. I want enjoyment and rest, not as rewards but as practice. My life will be a practice in joy.
The clinic. The human to human part. Like it's just so good.
My deep wish is that healthcare would commit itself to retaining those of us who are really good in the clinic.
Because our attention and talents are often rewarded much better elsewhere.
Moral of the story: distinguish between those who are against oppression and those who are against their personal experience of oppression. We conflate and confuse these people far too often.

It is irresponsible of faculty to continue perpetuating unrealistic expectations of graduate school admissions. These fixed notions about the “ideal candidate” are actively excluding qualified applicants, especially those from marginalized and/or minoritized backgrounds.
Every Black person has their own "tests" for protecting ourselves in discussions around racism.
Ways that we nudge and see if you can handle those conversations well, or if you're problematic, or outright racist.
If we're not talking to you about racism, that means you failed.
