Using the Road Maintenance Levy Fund, the government has been deploying over KES 80 billion annually to maintain and upgrade urban roads, improving mobility and supporting MSME activity.

As at now, The government plans to pay road contractors KES20 billion for works completed in the first quarter of 2026. Last few weeks, the government settled KES 177 billion owed since 2020.

The Road Maintenance Levy Fund (RMLF), is an innovative financing model that converts future levy revenues into immediate funds to bridge infrastructure financing gaps.
