π COMPLETE MyNBA EXPERIENCE 26 π
πΊπΈ OFFICIAL GUIDE β JULY 2026 EDITION
MyNBA has always been my favorite game mode in the NBA 2K series.
Over the past several years, I have studied, tested, and modified the mode to create a deeper, more balanced experience that can remain engaging for many seasons.
This guide introduces my scenario, explains the philosophy behind the roster and gameplay settings, and shows how you can turn MyNBA into a long-lasting, unpredictable experience filled with memorable storylines.
ββββββββββββββββββββ
VERSION NOTE
This guide was updated in July 2026 and uses NBA 2K26 as its foundation.
NBA 2K27 has already been announced and is scheduled for a worldwide release in September 2026.
However, because the complete details about its game modes and MyNBA features have not yet been revealed, this edition of the guide remains focused on NBA 2K26.
ββββββββββββββββββββ
1 β UNDERSTANDING THE SETUP
When you load the scenario through 2K Share Scenarios, you will notice that both simulated quarter length and played quarter length are set to 12 minutes.
This setting allows individual and team statistics to remain closer to what you would expect from a full NBA season, especially when playing an 82-game schedule.
All major NBA rules are enabled, creating a complete league experience that includes:
β’ Contracts
β’ Trades
β’ The NBA Draft
β’ Free agency
β’ Player development
β’ Injuries
β’ Rule changes
β’ Coaching staff decisions
β’ Multiple paths for building a franchise
βBut arenβt 12-minute quarters too long? Wonβt I get bored?β
Not if you treat each game as part of a larger story.
Rivalries, roster decisions, injuries, playoff races, player development, and the consequences of your moves can make a sports game much more interesting.
The goal of this guide is to show you how to use those possibilities without turning your save into a repetitive series of meaningless games.
The first thing you should do is become familiar with the settings.
Under βSettings,β you will find the leagueβs main options. This is where you can select the teamβor teamsβyou want to control.
To begin, I recommend selecting only the franchise you actually plan to play with.
You can temporarily take control of other teams later when you need to move certain league-wide storylines forward.
Choose your team, and letβs get started.
COMPATIBILITY
The main MyNBA features in NBA 2K26 are available on:
β’ PlayStation 5
β’ Xbox Series X|S
β’ PC
β’ Nintendo Switch 2
Some options may not be available or may work differently on previous-generation versions of the game.
ββββββββββββββββββββ
2 β HOW DOES MY MyNBA SETUP WORK?
You will notice that the roster has lower overall ratings than the default roster.
This decision was made to:
β’ Increase the challenge
β’ Give more value to different types of players
β’ Prevent the league from becoming overloaded with highly rated players after only a few seasons
With the default roster and progression settings, many players can quickly reach an overall rating above 80.
As a result, much of the league eventually becomes filled with players who can shoot, defend, create offense, and finish at a high level.
These players essentially become all-around players who are good at almost everything.
When there are too many players like that, roster building loses its depth.
Teams no longer need specialists because almost every rotation player can perform nearly every role.
In my scenario, winning requires planning.
You will need to find players who complement each other, build a balanced rotation, and accept that a 75-overall player can still be extremely important to your team.
PLAYER RATING TIERS
π 95β99: GENERATIONAL PLAYER
A player who can define an era and completely change the direction of a franchise.
π½ 89β94: FRANCHISE PLAYER
The centerpiece of a team and someone you can build a championship contender around.
π 85β88: ALL-STAR
A high-level player who can represent his team in the All-Star Game and decide important games.
βοΈ 82β84: OCCASIONAL ALL-STAR
A player who can make an All-Star team during a strong season, usually with the right circumstances.
π¨βπ 78β81: SOLID ROLE PLAYER
A dependable starter, sixth man, or important rotation player on a competitive team.
π€ 75β77: SPECIALIST
A player with one or two high-level skills, such as shooting, defense, playmaking, rebounding, or rim protection.
πͺ 72β74: BENCH PLAYER OR VETERAN
A situational rotation player, locker-room veteran, or specialist used in specific matchups.
𧬠68β71: G LEAGUE PROSPECT
A developmental player, two-way contract player, second-round pick, or long-term project.
Are you not used to having a 75-overall player in your rotation?
Consider what that player might bring to the team.
Maybe he is your best three-point shooter.
Maybe he can defend three positions.
Maybe he is an elite offensive rebounder.
Maybe he is a backup point guard who rarely turns the ball over.
Overall rating measures the complete player, but it does not fully explain his role.
That is the challenge:
Build a roster in which every player has a purpose and improve the team season after season.
ββββββββββββββββββββ
3 β BADGE AND TRAINING REBALANCING
One thing that has always bothered me about MyNBA is the way veteran players lose their place in the league.
Once their overall ratings begin to decline, experienced players stop receiving contract offers, remain unsigned in free agency, and spend multiple seasons without a role before eventually retiring.
To reduce this problem, I increased and reorganized the badges of several NBA veterans.
These players may no longer be able to:
β’ Play 30 minutes per game
β’ Defend explosive scorers
β’ Produce at the level they did during their prime
However, they can still be valuable for:
β’ Mentoring younger players
β’ Passing down new badges
β’ Helping players develop mentally
β’ Providing locker-room leadership
β’ Playing in specific situations
β’ Preparing young players for the playoffs
Try to keep at least two or three veterans on your roster.
An experienced point guard can help develop a young playmaker.
A veteran center can teach defensive positioning.
A shooting specialist can pass important badges to wings who are still inconsistent.
Mentorship should be part of your franchiseβs identity.
It should not be something you set up at the beginning of the season and then completely ignore.
Review your mentorship pairings throughout the year.
Injuries, trades, attribute development, and rotation changes may create better combinations.
ββββββββββββββββββββ
4 β TAKING ADVANTAGE OF NBA 2K26 FEATURES
NBA 2K26βs MyNBA mode includes several tools that fit well with the philosophy of this scenario.
The main features include:
β’ 30 starting storylines
β’ Owner directives
β’ Dynamic arena banners
β’ Adjustable simulation options
β’ Improvements to draft-pick valuation
β’ Improvements to draft-pick protections
β’ Offseason scenarios in MyGM
β’ MyPLAYER DNA
β’ Online Playoffs
These features were designed to give seasons more context and allow each franchise save to develop differently.
STORYLINES AND OWNER DIRECTIVES
Before the season begins, review the directives given to your franchise.
Even when you do not completely agree with them, try to incorporate them into the story of your save.
If ownership wants to reduce spending, you may need to trade an expensive veteran.
If the expectation is to make the playoffs, you may need to give up a draft pick to improve the rotation.
Owner directives work best when you treat them as real pressure from the front office instead of optional objectives on a menu.
ADJUSTABLE SIMULATION
NBA 2K26 allows you to choose between different simulation styles, including options focused on speed and decision quality.
Use the more detailed simulation settings during important parts of the season, especially:
β’ Near the trade deadline
β’ During the race for the final Play-In spots
β’ Throughout the playoffs
Faster simulation can be useful during rebuilding seasons, but do not let it cause you to miss important events.
DYNAMIC BANNERS
Dynamic banners help visually document the history of your franchise.
Division titles, conference championships, and NBA championships become more than numbers on a screen.
They become part of your arenaβs identity.
Pay attention to those details.
They help create the feeling that the world inside your save is actually progressing.
ONLINE PLAYOFFS
You can also create an online playoff bracket and invite other players to control the qualifying teams.
The mode allows up to 16 participants, including the commissioner.
This gives you an interesting option for deciding important games against human opponents.
ββββββββββββββββββββ
5 β MyNBA MANAGEMENT SLIDERS
The management sliders in my MyNBA scenario have been significantly modified from the default settings.
The original foundation of the project came from @the_popboyβs NBA 2K20 slider set.
Since then, I have continued studying how the sliders work, running tests, and adjusting different parts of the mode.
Because newer versions of NBA 2K separate gameplay, simulation, trade, contract, progression, and Draft sliders, I do not recommend importing old settings without testing each area individually.
The main goals of these changes include:
β’ More flexible salaries during free agency
β’ More active CPU-controlled teams in trade discussions
β’ Fewer injuries caused only by fatigue
β’ Better use of full rotations throughout the season
β’ Different draft-pick values based on each franchiseβs situation
β’ Greater value for protected draft picks
β’ Slower player progression divided into stages
β’ More gradual regression for veterans
β’ Greater importance for mental attributes and badges
β’ Fewer players who are elite at nearly everything
PROGRESSION IN STAGES
Player development was designed to happen gradually.
Young players will usually develop their physical and technical abilities first.
Basketball IQ, consistency, discipline, decision-making, and other mental attributes should improve through:
β’ Experience
β’ Playing time
β’ Years in the league
A 20-year-old player can be extremely athletic without always making the correct decision.
Likewise, a veteran may lose speed without losing his intelligence, discipline, or ability to help a rotation.
Separating these areas creates more natural career arcs.
ββββββββββββββββββββ
6 β GAMEPLAY SLIDERS
Under User/CPU settings, you will find a gameplay slider set designed to support the overall philosophy of the scenario.
It should be treated as a starting point.
Gameplay is a personal experience.
Your difficulty level, defensive style, knowledge of the controls, preference for shot timing, and ability to run offensive sets will all affect the results.
Adjust the sliders based on your own experience.
Pay close attention to:
β’ Free-throw percentage
β’ Three-point efficiency
β’ Contested-shot success
β’ Foul frequency
β’ The CPUβs ability to attack mismatches
β’ Offensive rebounding
β’ Turnovers
β’ Speed and acceleration
β’ Help defense
β’ Fatigue
β’ Injury frequency
β’ Number of possessions per game
Do not change ten different settings at the same time.
Play three to five games, identify one specific problem, and make a small adjustment.
Then test the game again.
For players looking for more detailed gameplay settings, I also recommend following creators who specialize in sliders, such as @ShadyMikeGaming.
ββββββββββββββββββββ
7 β HOW DO YOU AVOID GETTING BORED?
HOW DO YOU CREATE A LONG-RUNNING MyNBA SAVE?
What makes sports interesting is not only the athletesβ abilities.
It is the story created by:
β’ Wins
β’ Losses
β’ Injuries
β’ Rivalries
β’ Trades
β’ Surprises
β’ Failures
β’ Difficult decisions
That ongoing narrative is what can motivate you to play all 82 games in a season or manage the same save for ten years.
A β BUILD STORYLINES
First, decide what role you want to play.
Do you want to act primarily as a general manager, focusing on contracts, the Draft, and trades?
Do you want to be more of a head coach, focusing on systems, rotations, and player development?
Or do you want complete control over every part of the franchise?
After that, define the identity of your team.
Some possible challenges include:
β’ Completely rebuilding a franchise
β’ Building a young core through the Draft
β’ Turning second-round picks into important rotation players
β’ Creating an elite defensive team
β’ Building the best offense in the league
β’ Reviving the careers of overlooked players
β’ Building around a young star
β’ Extending the championship window of an aging roster
β’ Winning with only players drafted or developed by the franchise
Set goals for each season, but allow events to change your plans.
A major injury can alter the direction of your franchise.
A young player may develop faster than expected.
A star may request a trade.
A protected draft pick may become more valuable than anyone expected.
Your story should react to what happens during the save.
ββββββββββββββββββββ
EXAMPLE: NEW ORLEANS PELICANS FRANCHISE
The New Orleans Pelicans finished the 2025β26 season with a 26β56 record.
Entering July 2026, the team retained most of the players responsible for the previous seasonβs minutes.
That creates an interesting challenge:
Continue with the current group or begin a deeper rebuild?
The roster also includes young players such as Jeremiah Fears and Derik Queen, who can become important parts of the franchiseβs future.
FIRST-YEAR GOALS
1. Decide which veterans are truly part of the teamβs future.
2. Give meaningful minutes to younger players.
3. Establish a clear offensive identity.
4. Improve the teamβs defense and discipline.
5. Avoid making impulsive trades during the first few months.
6. Reach the trade deadline with a clear decision: compete or rebuild.
SECOND-YEAR GOALS
1. Establish a young core.
2. Develop at least one drafted player into a starter.
3. Compete for a Play-In spot.
4. Maintain a rotation with clearly defined roles.
5. Find an appropriate veteran mentor for the teamβs main prospects.
THIRD- AND FOURTH-YEAR GOALS
1. Reach the Play-In Tournament or the playoffs.
2. Build a top-10 offense or defense.
3. Develop a drafted player into an All-Star.
4. Win a playoff series.
5. Maintain financial flexibility.
FIFTH- THROUGH EIGHTH-YEAR GOALS
1. Create a competitive core.
2. Acquire a star without sacrificing the franchiseβs entire future.
3. Build a deep roster for the playoffs.
4. Reach the Conference Finals.
5. Make at least one NBA Finals appearance.
NINTH- AND TENTH-YEAR GOALS
1. Finish the regular season with one of the leagueβs best records.
2. Win an NBA championship.
3. Defend the championship.
4. Prepare replacements for aging veterans.
5. Begin a new dynasty without abandoning player development.
This is only one example.
You can create your own goals and modify your plan based on what happens throughout the save.
ββββββββββββββββββββ
B β LEARN HOW TO CONTROL THE REST OF THE LEAGUE
The CPU can handle many league functions on its own, but it does not always understand the leagueβs larger story.
It may:
β’ Keep an unhappy star on a team with no realistic future
β’ Ignore an obvious rebuilding opportunity
β’ Make a signing that completely destroys a teamβs balance
For that reason, I recommend temporarily taking control of other franchises at important points during the season.
You can:
β’ Create trades involving two or three teams
β’ Make an underperforming team hit the panic button
β’ Trade an unhappy star
β’ Reward a surprising team with additional help
β’ Help a rebuilding franchise collect draft picks
β’ Fix unrealistic rotations
β’ Open playing time for a promising young player
β’ Create reunions between former teammates
β’ Move veterans to competitive teams
β’ Develop rivalries between conferences
Make the league feel alive.
However, you need to consider how these interventions may affect your own challenge.
My recommendation is to make most of these moves between CPU-controlled teams.
When a trade involves your own franchise, submit the offer normally and allow the CPU to:
β’ Accept
β’ Reject
β’ Make a counteroffer
Avoid using Trade Override for your own benefit.
Controlling other teams should improve the leagueβs story, not make your path easier.
ββββββββββββββββββββ
C β GIVE THE OFFSEASON YOUR FULL ATTENTION
The offseason is one of the most important parts of MyNBA.
Pay attention to:
β’ Retiring players
β’ Rule changes
β’ Team and player options
β’ Qualifying offers
β’ Contract extensions
β’ Fired coaches
β’ Newly hired coaches
β’ Coaching staff changes
β’ Draft selections
β’ Two-way contracts
β’ G League movement
β’ Trades
β’ Summer League rosters
β’ Free agency
During free agency, do not be afraid to intervene when a signing clearly damages the balance of the league.
That does not mean preventing every strong team from signing good players.
It means considering:
β’ The teamβs situation
β’ Cap space
β’ Available role
β’ Playing time
β’ Overall logic
A small number of trades and roster changes can quickly alter the direction of several franchises.
Some teams may maintain most of their rotation.
Others may make significant changes.
Use that same logic in your save.
A team eliminated early may decide to pursue a star.
A championship contender may trade depth for one major piece.
An expensive roster may need to reduce payroll.
A young team may prefer to keep its draft picks.
EXTRA ADVICE
Avoid collecting every available first-round pick.
Doing so can make rebuilding far too easy and reduce the importance of your decisions.
It is much more rewarding to:
β’ Turn a second-round pick into an important contributor
β’ Revive a player who was waived
β’ Discover a specialist in the G League
ββββββββββββββββββββ
8 β CONTROL THE NARRATIVE AND MAKE HISTORY
Now it is time to enjoy the scenario and create your own story.
DURING THE SEASON
Before starting the schedule:
β’ Review every team
β’ Evaluate each roster
β’ Correct player positions
β’ Organize rotations
β’ Identify players who do not have a clear role
β’ Find teams with too many players at the same position
β’ Think about realistic trade possibilities
β’ Review contracts that may become problems
β’ Check your franchiseβs owner directives
During the first few months:
β’ Use Team Intel
β’ Monitor unhappy players
β’ Identify teams performing above or below expectations
β’ Review advanced statistics
β’ Follow the awards races
β’ Adjust minutes for younger players
β’ Update mentorship pairings
β’ Review individual training plans
USE THE G LEAGUE
Play some G League games.
Give meaningful minutes to:
β’ Prospects
β’ Two-way players
β’ Undrafted rookies
β’ Second-round picks
These games allow you to learn more about players who would otherwise be nothing more than names on a screen.
Maybe a 69-overall player shows the ability to:
β’ Defend
β’ Rebound
β’ Run the offense
Maybe an overlooked veteran earns another opportunity in the NBA.
Maybe a prospect needs one more full season before joining the main rotation.
Create storylines in the G League as well.
SCOUT THE DRAFT CLASSES
Use your scouts and follow prospects from the beginning of the season.
Do not look only at projected overall rating.
Evaluate:
β’ Age
β’ Height
β’ Wingspan
β’ Potential
β’ Physical attributes
β’ Tendencies
β’ Badges
β’ Personality
β’ Strengths
β’ Weaknesses
β’ System fit
β’ Team needs
A player with lower potential may be more useful immediately.
A raw prospect may require three years of development.
A talented player may not have a clear role on your roster.
The best player available is not always the best player for your franchise.
MAKE THE TRADE DEADLINE ACTIVE
Create an active but realistic trade deadline.
You do not need to complete an exact number of trades.
Depending on the season, you can aim for somewhere between eight and twenty moves involving different teams.
Focus on:
β’ Buyers
β’ Sellers
β’ Unhappy stars
β’ Veterans on expiring contracts
β’ Young players without playing time
β’ Specific rotation needs
β’ Protected picks
β’ Teams facing financial pressure
β’ Franchises under pressure from ownership
Every trade should have an explanation.
PLAY THE NBA CUP
The former In-Season Tournament is now officially known as the NBA Cup.
Use the tournament to:
β’ Create rivalries
β’ Test rotations
β’ Establish an early competitive goal for the season
A young team may treat the NBA Cup as its first opportunity to win something meaningful.
A championship contender may use it to measure its strength.
A surprise run in the tournament may completely change a teamβs confidence.
DEVELOP YOUR PLAYERS
Use:
β’ The training schedule
β’ Individual workouts
β’ Mentorship
β’ The G League
β’ Summer League
β’ Situational minutes
β’ Position changes
β’ Appropriate player roles
β’ Compatible offensive systems
β’ Compatible defensive systems
Do not try to turn every player into a star.
Some players should develop into starters.
Others should become specialists, reliable backups, or respected locker-room veterans.
A realistic rotation needs different levels of talent.
ββββββββββββββββββββ
9 β DURING THE OFFSEASON
At the end of each season:
β’ Play Summer League games
β’ Build rosters with rookies, G League players, and undrafted free agents
β’ Test position changes
β’ Evaluate two-way contracts
β’ Give overlooked players an opportunity
β’ Identify veterans who can still contribute
β’ Review the development of your young players
β’ Reevaluate mentorship pairings
β’ Adjust sliders when necessary
β’ Create a backup save before free agency
β’ Simulate different financial scenarios
β’ Review newly approved rules
β’ Organize coaching staffs
Do not treat Summer League as a meaningless part of the calendar.
It can determine the future of:
β’ Second-round picks
β’ Undrafted rookies
β’ Players who spent the previous season in the G League
DRAFT CLASSES
Use my Draft classes and follow the playersβ development over multiple seasons.
The current plan includes ten classes, all built with real players and designed to avoid unbalancing MyNBA.
The goal is to support a long-running save without turning every season into a collection of prospects with superstar potential.
Give value to:
β’ Rotation players
β’ Specialists
β’ Defensive projects
β’ Traditional centers
β’ Backup point guards
β’ 3-and-D wings
β’ Players who need time in the G League
β’ Players with international careers
β’ Undrafted free agents
β’ Second-round picks
Not every Draft class needs to produce five generational players.
Uncertainty is part of the Draft.
ββββββββββββββββββββ
10 β RECOMMENDED HOUSE RULES
To maintain the challenge, consider using some personal house rules:
1. Do not use Trade Override for your own benefit.
2. Do not control the results of the Draft Lottery.
3. Do not edit the potential ratings of your own players during the save.
4. Do not collect draft picks by exploiting CPU logic.
5. Do not sign stars for the minimum without a believable storyline.
6. Do not prevent every major CPU signing.
7. Do not restart games simply because you lost.
8. Accept injuries and disappointing seasons.
9. Give young players enough time to develop.
10. Allow important players to leave your franchise.
11. Accept the consequences of bad decisions.
12. Keep a record of the most important events from every season.
You do not need to follow every rule.
Choose the rules that make the game more enjoyable for you.
ββββββββββββββββββββ
11 β RECORD THE HISTORY OF YOUR LEAGUE
Keep track of the major events in your save.
You can create a document that records:
After five or ten seasons, this record will transform your save into its own unique universe.
You will stop seeing players only through their current ratings and statistics.
You will begin to remember their full careers.
That veteran may have mentored your first All-Star.
The 28th pick in the Draft may have decided an NBA Finals game.
A player you traded too early may return years later and eliminate his former team from the playoffs.
Those are the stories that make MyNBA special.
ββββββββββββββββββββ
CONTROL THE NARRATIVE.
BUILD YOUR LEAGUE.
MAKE HISTORY.
Now go enjoy the scenario.
Choose a franchise, establish your goals, deal with the consequences of your decisions, and create a story that could only happen in your MyNBA.
