I did not realise how many people who work in AI safety think they have to run defence/PR for their team when that team make calls that are almost definitely net bad for safety—even if said calls are technically not as bad as the public thinks, or not as bad as a competitor.
@shelvacu@IsaacKing314 I mean it’s still encoding-dependent, and its “finite” runtime depends on how long the Turing Machines take to halt, which is of course as uncomputable as anything else here... In practice this just makes it basically “computably possible to lower bound,” which many things are.
