@mrdanwalker The idea that “they can’t win” is feeble, & sadly all too typical of the times. The fact that some people-who dont like them regardless- would rant about a host Nation location shouldn’t have entered their thinking. And every time they give in, they cede further ground.Pathetic.
I am old enough to remember the Ian Huntley riots when people went out in fury at a White man who raped and murdered two schoolgirls.
Except of course nobody did, and if it happened now nobody would.
The outrage is selective to their racism, and everybody sees it.
An event is planned to be hosted in London proudly promoting the sale of land on illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank.
This is obscene. I've called on @MayorofLondon and @YvetteCooperMP to stop the event and for this govt to take real action on illegal settlements.
Just in case you’re wondering what kind of place the UK is, a few jewish ambulances being set on fire will bring about more COBRA meetings and hysterical mass media coverage than actual people being burned out of their homes by masked gangs rampaging through the streets.
I don’t want to hear any bullshit about “legitimate concerns” and “working class revolt”
It’s working-class Black and brown people being pushed out of their homes. This is racist violence and intimidation. Don’t dress it up as anything else.
These aren't protests. They're racist riots. And it's time for the government to take them seriously.
The PM should be convening COBRA and setting out a real plan to end this horrific violence and bring communities together.
Now is a time for real leadership.
Absolutely astonishing that there has been a two day racist pogrom in Northern Ireland and @Keir_Starmer hasn’t called a COBRA meeting.
QWHITE revealing!
I do not believe for a moment that Israel acted alone. There can be little question the US/Israel continue to closely coordinate all their military actions against Iran.
And there is no way the US could possibly conceal its involvement from those who are watching.
Richard Burgon just exposed the most glaring double standard in British policy
"Imagine if this weekend in London there was a Russian real estate event selling Ukrainian land. The government would ban it immediately.
Instead, we have an Israeli real estate event openly advertising the illegal sale of land in occupied Palestinian territories. The government recognizes Palestine. Why isn't this banned?"
Politicians who fanned these flames should hang their heads in shame.
Time and again we've seen this story play out. Single incidents used to fuel a far right narrative - and communities across the nation paying the price.
