NEW: Maryland commits and other recruits react to the firing of head coach Mike Locksley❌
“I’m shocked. I can’t say what I’m going to do with my commitment as of now.”

There are multiple G6 coaches who will be mentioned for this job.
The question becomes whether or not it’s worth the career risk to move to a “P4” that has been less committed than its “peers.”
I get why people might be hesitant to hire Eck since Locksley once was a head coach there, but the guy is electric.
He’s a winner, his teams are disciplined, and he would invigorate the program.
Unfathomable to lose three straight games against Rutgers. To call the state of the program a dumpster fire would be disrespectful to dumpster fires. Rip the bandaid off.
Pro Football Network names six candidates Maryland should target to replace Mike Locksley, should he be fired:
- Charles Huff, Memphis HC
- Jake Dickert, Wake Forest HC
- Bryant Haines, Indiana DC
- Shannon Dawson, Miami OC
- Mike Shanahan, Indiana OC
- Blake Baker, LSU DC
Things that have happened since Maryland football last beat a ranked opponent:
• Tom Brady left New England, won another Super Bowl, retired, unretired, retired again and became a broadcaster.
• Washington’s NFL team changed its name. Twice.
• The Nationals won an entire World Series. Yes, this drought predates “fight finished.”
• The Orioles lost 110 games, rebuilt and won 101 games.
• A global pandemic happened.
• Queen Elizabeth II’s 70-year reign ended. Britain got a king before Maryland got another ranked win.
• Twitter became X.
• Disney+ launched. Baby Yoda became famous. Your streaming bill became a car payment.
• Nick Saban retired and became the guy talking about college football on TV.
• The Big Ten expanded to 18 teams. Apparently finding more ranked opponents was easier than beating one.
• Texas and Oklahoma joined the SEC. Stanford and Cal joined the Atlantic Coast Conference. Geography gave up.
• The College Football Playoff expanded from four teams to 12. They tripled the invitations.
• LeBron broke the NBA scoring record and played an NBA game alongside his son.
• An entire incoming freshman class could enroll at Maryland, graduate, finish a two-year master’s degree and still never experience a ranked football win.
• Maryland scored 63 points that afternoon and apparently selected “use all remaining ranked-win points.”
Thoughts after Maryland’s 45-16 loss to Ohio State — the Terps’ fourth consecutive defeat.
- Michael Locksley needs wins “yesterday”
- Defense can’t stop big plays
- Malik Washington struggled mightily
Deja Vu
Maryland down 21, scores a touchdown, and we go for two for no reason.
Instead of being down 14, we are down 15 and will have to attempt a 2 point conversion again at some point.
@CoachLocks proves he is the dumbest coach in America again.
Fire him @TerpsADJimSmith
