What are we doing?
Californians pay the bills for the federal government.
We pay over $80 BILLION more in taxes than we get back.
Maybe itโs time to cut that off, @realDonaldTrump.

New Weather West post: "Widespread rain in SoCal to temporarily alleviate fire concerns by Sunday; SoCal drought still likely to expand rest of winter." I also discuss upcoming debris flow risk in fire zones. #CAwx#CAwater#CAfire#LAfires#DebrisFlows https://t.co/3UUogiBSgQ
I'm so proud of this 14 yr old young woman and the father who believed in her abilities and drove behind her to keep them safe. ๐ด๐ฅฐ California Fires saving a horse that wasn't hers but refused to load up in the trailer when evacuated. She volunteered to ride it out 14 miles to safety
Buried, amid the more immediate casualties and clearly visible damage of modern wildfire disasters, are the far more numerous victims of the secondary harms and "chronic emergencies" that subsequently unfold for months and years thereafter.
Clearly, *something* has changed. In reality, many things have changed. Far more people today live in high fire risk zones than ever before. We removed beneficial fires (both natural ignitions & cultural burning) from the landscape. The climate has warmed, and the West has dried.
Regarding not having enough water to fight the SoCal fires; here is some water usage numbers from someone who knows a lot more about urban firefighting than I do.

#CaliforniaWildfires: if you already have insurance, you still may be eligible for disaster assistance. File a claim with your provider first, then apply for federal aid. Please note the application process cannot continue until you provide your claim information with us.
๐ฉ Critical Fire Weather Alert ๐ฉ
Southern California is facing critical fire weather through Wednesday.
Life-threatening winds and dangerously low humidity are forecast for much of Southern California - from Ventura to San Diego - creating a significant risk of rapid fire spread.
No politician wants to encumber wildfire victims with more obstacles to getting back into a home, but fast-tracking the rebuild of firetrap neighborhoods isn't leadership, either. "Building back better" needs to be more than a slogan. https://t.co/IUPgUT0OCe 2/3
Insane. This is one of the morons who broke federal law and flew a drone in restricted airspace, endangering fire aviators, and firefighters on the ground, all so he can get a sick shot of destruction.
Today, one of the super scoopers collided with a photographer's drone and punched a hole in the wing. They had to ground ALL aircraft, which means the fire goes unchecked by aviation, creating even more destruction and further endangering lives.
The level of stupidity with drone bros is just beyond comprehension. DO NOT FLY YOUR DRONES OVER FIRES. Ever. I filmed fires for 7 years, and we have zero aerials of an active fire because I never ONCE considered putting my drone up over a fire zone.
This dude and every other drone bro who flew this fire should be blacklisted. What a scumbag.
