First, we should talk about cotyledons. Cotyledons are the first leaves to appear after the seed has germinated.

The next leaves that grow will be the plants’ first set of “true leaves”. They resemble the shape of what the mature plants’ leaves will look like.

When reading through our growing guides you may come across phrases like “up-pot when the first set of true leaves appears”, “thin seedlings when there are 1–2 sets of true leaves” or something to that effect.

Our favorite unit of measurement: Elephant garlic = the size of 1 cute puppy face!
Although not a true garlic, these bulbs are related more closely to a leek. It’s so fun to grow and has a milder and sweeter flavor compared to garlic. 💚🌱
