Profile Q & A - “#Eritrea Isn’t Just Surviving; It’s Building Something Unique. The World Should Pay Attention"
By Milka Teklom
*"...I was speechless. Rows upon rows of rusted tanks, artillery, and military vehicles - once belonging to Ethiopia’s arsenal - stretch across the landscape, a stark reminder of conflict and sacrifice. The sheer number and variety of equipment made it clear that external support played a role in the region’s wars. Yet the story that resonated most was not the hardware but the human determination behind the struggle. Learning that Eritreans prevailed in 1991 despite overwhelming odds left a deep impression on me. Standing there, I thought: this is proof of what a people can achieve when they refuse to surrender".
*"...But the most eye-opening part was the Northern Red Sea National Museum. It houses artifacts that trace Eritrea’s ancient civilizations, including the port city of Adulis. Before visiting, I had heard competing claims about Eritrea’s historical relationship with Ethiopia. The museum’s presentation of the Adulis civilization and the archaeological record clarified a lot for me. It showed a distinct, long-standing maritime culture with its own identity and trade networks. Having visited Ethiopia first and heard a particular narrative, the museum provided context and nuance that fundamentally changed my understanding".
*"...I used to hear that Eritrea is isolated, struggling, or dependent. But what I saw was the opposite - a country standing firm on its own. The people are educated, self-sufficient, and fiercely independent. Medeber Market shows how they turn limitations into innovations. Their history proves they’ve always been their own nation. And their hospitality? I felt at home from day one".
*"...Come curious and open-minded. Listen to the stories people tell, visit the museums, walk the streets of Asmara, descend the spiral road to Massawa, and spend time at Medeber if you can. You’ll find a country shaped by struggle and sustained by work, where small acts of sacrifice and ingenuity point toward a hopeful, industrious future".

#Eid Mewlid al Nebyi celebrations held at Asmara's Grand Mosque today in the presence of senior Government and PFDJ officials, religious leaders, members of the Diplomatic Community, and the faithful.
#Eritrea's Mufti, Sheikh Salim I. al-Mukhtar, delivered religious sermon and blessings.
The Mufti underlined, in his sermon, the imperative of continued adherence to Eritrea's foundational ethical precepts and standards in this age of globalization, and the preservation and further consolidation of its harmonious national unity and cohesion secured through the precious sacrifice of its Martyrs.
“The propaganda that ‘the 🇺🇸 , 🇫🇷 , or the UAE are with us’ is reckless. It misleads not only 🇪🇹 but the region. Talk of ports & sea windows is delusion. To dream of controlling Suez, Assab,🇩🇯 , Berbera, Mogadishu,& beyond to Dar es Salaam is the imagination of a madman.”

When Shambel Degafe Abebe was captured in Denbobet, they took him to General Andemariam Wuchu. The late Ambassador Ghirma Asmerom, then a journalist for the Amharic service, Dimtsi Hasfash, first interviewed him. To listen to the entire interview, please visit Embassy Media.
Nahom Tadese truly stands out as an exceptional talent in Eritrea's Premier Division, playing for FC Denden in Asmara. His impressive track record includes multiple Player of the Year awards, highlighting his dedication and skill. Recently, during a match against Eswatini, Nahom dazzled fans and teammates alike by setting up two goals with his remarkable creativity. It’s exciting to know that major clubs in both Europe and Africa have their eyes on him! Watching him navigate the field with such flair is always a joy. Currently in peak shape, he is laser-focused and eagerly preparing for the upcoming games, ready to inspire us all once again!
This harrowing crime amplifies two cardinal issues:
1. Inherent flaws of UNHCR's deplorable Eligibility Guidelines (2011/12) originally designed to promote malicious political agendas of harassment and "strategic depopulation" against Eritrea but whose blanket "asylum procedures" have allowed other nationals to obtain asylum masquerading as "persecuted Eritreans" ; (the estimates vary from 40% to 70% in several European countries).
2. The feckless norms and practices of Legacy Media who routinely misconstrue heinous and repugnant crimes of a deranged immigrant for purposes of stigmatization and racist/xenophobic campaigns against the Global South; (even RT recycled the story of defamation against Eritrea without any modicum of validation).

The Weaponization of Victimhood: How Ethiopia’s Prosperity Party Trapped itself in Its Own Regional Expansionist Ploys
Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Research and Documentation Division
18 August 2026
*"...For the past three years, the PP has been openly threatening the sovereignty and territorial integrity of its neighbors; questioned the very existence of sovereign states; and, through its collusion with disruptive external actors, systematically contributed to the destabilization of the Horn of Africa. Yet today, it cries foul, manufacturing a narrative of 'encirclement and external conspiracy' to conceal its own crippling domestic shortcomings and regional failures".
*"...the Prosperity Party’s campaign against Eritrea is a naked attempt to externalize a deep-seated domestic crisis and can neither hoodwink its domestic constituency nor the international community".
*"...Eritrea’s sovereignty is not a bargaining chip, nor is it a historical inconvenience to be corrected according to the miscalculations of a reckless neighbor. It is an immutable fact of international law and African political history. Duplicitous attempts of manufacturing a narrative of encirclement by hostile alliances, and portrayal of the primary initiator of regional tensions as the 'the innocent victim' cannot alter that reality".
