Owning Up to Leadership Failures and Political Responsibility
This morning, I listened to the British Prime Minister’s speech announcing his planned resignation in July. As a keen observer of global politics, my primary interest lies in examining what successful nations do right and the structural factors that cause others to lag or struggle with governance and development.
The Prime Minister’s planned resignation comes amid mounting public frustration over a stagnant economy, a worsening cost-of-living crisis, and a perceived failure to honour key campaign pledges.
Looking inward in our dear country, we can recall our own situation. Before 2015, our President on several occasions championed the call for the then President Goodluck Jonathan to resign over economic hardship and insecurity affecting Nigerians. During the Chibok school kidnapping incident, he demanded the immediate resignation of President Jonathan, arguing that the government had failed in its most fundamental duty of protecting lives.
During the 2023 election campaign, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu made several promises, including improved electricity supply. He also challenged the electorate not to vote for him for a second term if he failed to deliver on those commitments—particularly in providing stable power, fighting corruption, and improving the welfare of Nigerians.
At present, however, these conditions have worsened. Electricity supply remains unreliable, insecurity has intensified in many areas, including kidnappings, and economic hardship has deepened rather than eased. Similar concerns are reflected across other critical sectors such as security, infrastructure, transportation, and anti-corruption efforts, all of which have regressed. We are in the worst possible condition.
I, therefore, join Nigerians of goodwill in calling for the resignation of the President over monumental failure in governance. Such a gesture would help enthrone a political culture rooted in accountability and responsibility, rather than further entrenching impunity. It would also send a powerful message that public office is a sacred trust, not an entitlement, and help build a society in which future leaders understand that failure carries consequences. Only by ending the culture of impunity can we secure a better future for the society our children will inherit in a New Nigeria that is possible. -PO
Y'all Obidients are really small boys that live on social media emotions.
When excellent Soludo was making significant monetary policies, stabilizing our economy & restructuring our banking sector as Gov of Central Bank where was your Alex?
Today, Una don buy Tecno phone, borrow data and follow id!ots online that knows how to canvas y'all behind fake political rhetoric.
If no be joke, you dey compare Soludo with Alex. Social media has really turned our youth into dunce. Even if you didn't know who Soludo is... Can't you research him?
But of course anyone that doesn't support your messiah is bad at governance.
I just saw this video of a party agent confronting a politician who came to the polling unit with police officers to intimidate the opposition.
This is how vigilant, bold, courageous, and confrontational Nigerians must be in 2027. If this happens at every pulling unit and collation centre, rigging will be impossible.✍️
"Police released Armed Fulani Militia, we arrested & gave them their AK-47's back to them"
Gov. Udom - *"We arrested persons with fake army uniforms carrying 18 AK-47's rifles and handed them over to the police"*
However, the police hierarchy gave express orders that those persons should be released and their guns handed back to them.
We want to let the world know that if there is a breakdown of law and order tomorrow, the police should be held responsible.
All attempts to speak with the top hierarchy of the police in the zone and at Abuja were rebuffed.
- Gov. Emmanuel Udom. Akwa Ibom State.

Not necessarily holding brief for PO but there's really no answer to "how are you going to provide 10GW of electricity in 4 years" "how you are going to fight terrorism"....
It's not rocket science, it's like asking some1 how they are going to eat food in front of them.

😭💔 I dropped my daughter at school that morning and went to work, never knowing that very day was my last day of seeing my beautiful daughter.
A few hours later, I received the most painful news a mother could ever hear — band!ts had attacked the school and kidnapped everyone, including my little girl and her teachers. Since then, my daughter has been in the forest, and I don't know if she is safe or even alive. 😭
The pain is too much for me to bear😭. Every day I cry, pray, and hope for a miracle. God, please protect my child and bring her back home alive. 🙏💔
Before the rest of you caught up with the happenings in this country. A senator and a member of the house of Representatives were killed by terrorists while visiting victims of terrorism in Plateau State. Nothing happened.
