About 30 rejections.

He was away at a time, and his wife, Tabitha, discovered the work and rescued the pages from the trash.

Brushed off his cigarette ash, smoothed, read the pages she found, encouraged him, and told him to continue.

She offered to help with the female perspective of the novel.

She insisted the novel had potential, pushed him to keep going, and actively helped him with details.

And that was same novel that made him famous.

The paperback rights were sold for a large sum of $ 400k.
